Pop Stars - Round 3 (The Elite Eight)

I got a good nights sleep and I'm not as mad as I was when I got home last night (But I will still come shoot your computer if the finals are jacked up!).
I called out a few places last night and that was really just my way of saying hi to you all. I see you are regular supporters of Coffee Cake and I wanted to say I recognize you and thanks for coming back day after day. So hello to my home state of Michigan and our readers from Midland and Houghton. Hello to Pennsylvania State University. And also a big hello to Lake Mary, Florida. Now, we all know you're here and you know we know. So join in the fun and say hi.

Let's look at Round 3.

Taylor Swift vs Kelly Clarkson - Taylor Swift just beat Prince so to hell with her. (Ok, maybe I am still quite a bit bitter about yesterday.) Kelly Clarkson, my friend Angelic went to see your show in Arizona (I don't know why.) but she said you put on one hell of a live show. I trust Angelic (enough to vote for you but not enough to pay for a ticket to see you live.) so you get my vote. Taylor Swift better wear purple everyday for the rest of her life and then maybe I will forgive her.

Madonna vs Gwen Stefani - Well I would say that there is no way the imitator can beat the originator but we saw what happened in Michael Jackson vs Usher. I'm picking Madonna anyway. Has Gwen Stefani even released any music recently? She's been mighty quiet lately.

Elvis Presley vs Bono - Sad to say, this is the only real match for me today. As of right now, I am all in behind Elvis to win it all. Bono, it's been real but if you some how sneak past Elvis you'll probably just end up losing to Carrie Underwood in the Final Four and I need to have someone who can compete against her in the next round.

Usher vs Carrie Underwood - USHER!! HELP!! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING!! YOU CAN DO IT!! YOU. CAN. DO. IT!!!!! Someone please call the Usher Fan Club! Let them know what's going on over here! Don't let me down, Usher Raymond!

Final Four is tomorrow.
See you then.

Roger

  2. I go to bed last night in a sinus drug induced haze and I wake up to find this world FUBAR! What in the HELL is wrong with you people??? You're supposed to be looking at the body of work and potential, not at what you would do if that particular person knocked on your door (this is to the Taylor Swift voters). How... how... HOW... could Taylor Swift beat Prince? I mean, it is supposed to be inconceivable. She can't sing. I've heard her. She's just the latest in a long line of girls that sound like they were put out by the disney channel. Prince... hell, Dave Chappelle told us about the "real" Prince. Okay, not going to rage out in the comments. It's over and done with. Except for Madonna and Elvis, I don't care about anyone else in this pop category and maybe the way this vote is going is why I don't really listen to pop music anymore.

Humanity is letting me down. Big time. Maybe the Cylons should blow our asses up.

  3. PS - I don't care how it works out, it better be Madonna and Elvis in the final 2. However, I do want Taylor Swift to go down.

  4. "Maybe the Cylons should blow our asses up." That was mighty nerdy of you Angel. Don't try to play all, "I'm too cool for Pop Music" when you are showing how nerdy you are.

  5. Thank you to whoever just put Kelly Clarkson in the lead. You just saved the world from one angry black man.

  6. I admit to total nerd-dom, but I'm an indie rock and indie-pop baby. Not cause it's "cool" but because I like it better. But I will nerd out on all of y'all in a minute!

I would like to know how people are making their choices though.

  7. And also, thank you to whoever just put Usher in the lead. I can feel my blood pressure lowering.

  8. I'm going to waste all day watching these polls....I love it. I'll wait until after lunch to call the TS fan club ;)

  9. lol. Ok look. I'm going to lunch. I don't want anything crazy to happen while I am gone. You all just keep voting like you've got some sense and make sure Madonna pulls back into the lead.

    Be back in about 20mins.

  10. whoa.
    just ... whoa.
This is ridiculous. I think that if Madonna doesn't pull ahead pretty soon, music might be dead to me.
Certainly all the voters out there who seriously even consider it a contest between Madonna and Gwen Stefani (?!?) will be very, very dead to me. I just wish I knew who you all were.
Here's a marketing idea, Rog: print out stickers, like those "Hi, My name is ..." stickers you get at conferences and on field trips, only make these say "Hi, I voted for ... in the Coffee Cake Extravaganza."
That way we'll know who to kick in the shins.

  11. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa....Just what the hell is going on here? I come back from lunch and Taylor Swift is back in the lead? DQ? Did you have something to do with this? Yeah Madonna has tied up with Gwen Stefani but now Usher is tied too?

People come on. Think before you vote!!
    This is madness!!

  12. I've yet to put any influence on the voting. There must be more of a southern following than even I suspected. BTW...Id be happy to wear a "Hi, I voted for Gwen Stefani because I don't like Madonna and to upset the fans of coffeecake who can't understand what the heck is going on". Just be sure to make it 10 point font so the sticker isn't too big.

  13. What kind of tom-foolery is going on in Michigan now-a-days. Seems like a good thing I moved away. I bet you would vote against Aretha Franklin wouldn't you?

  14. Good thing I don't live in Michigan. Like I said, our computers are networked through Michigan....so take comfort. Things haven't gone completely nuts there.

  15. I refuse to vote on Kelly Clarkson/Taylor Swift. They're both no-talent ass clowns who should change their name because they're the ones that suck.

  19. okay, I guess I can't hold it against people who didn't vote like me, but I still say name tags would be a good idea.
