Sorry about the lack of commentary on yesterday's post but I think the word whippin' I received for leaving out the three toed sloth was worth the price of admission.

Let's look at todays match ups

Lions vs Polar Bears: I know what you're thinking. "He's going to vote for the lions." Quit acting like you know me. YOU DON'T KNOW ME!! I'm voting for Polar Bears. You ever seen a Mama Polar Bear with a cute little bear cub? It's sooooo cute! How can you vote against that? And not to lose all of my manhood on my blog, Polar bears are still big and strong and in the wrong situation will make you shit you pants upon sight.

Pandas vs Hippos: Pandas you sure are cute but Hippos sure do rock the spot! HIPPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!

Monkeys vs Seals: Come on let's face it Monkeys smell bad. I know I don't smell like a rose most days but I sure as hell don't smell like a monkey. Seals spend a lot of time in the water so they can't smell bad. Plus seals do stuff like this.

Zebras vs Koalas: Wow this is a tough one. Mitch Hedberg said all that needs to be said about Koalas. But zebras are making some important social commentary on the way we need to live in America. Those zebras know what's up. I'm voting Zebra.

Penguins vs Gorillas: A gorilla will fuck you up and then sit down scratch itself and chew on a stick like nothing happened. The look on its face is like it didn't even remember something happened. "OH MY GOD!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO ROGER?!" ... "Who?" Yeah fuck that. I'm voting for Penguins.

Tigers vs Llamas: Llamas do something that I find really endearing. If you shave the hair off a llama's chest they become embarrassed and will go hide until they feel comfortable with being seen again. That makes me go awwww. I want to vote for the llamas but the guy in me is warning me that I've already voted against the lions so I better vote for the big cat. Tigers get the vote.

Giraffes vs Kangaroos: Giraffes are tall. I'm tall. I'm voting Giraffes. One thing I don't get about nature. Why would nature make it so hard for the giraffe to drink water. That's mean of you nature.

Elephants vs Otters: Elephants. I love them. They are nature's tanks. And if you ever watch a documentary on elephants you will see that they are very caring animals. I love that. They have trunks that can be used as a trumpet. Elephants are great but otters are so much fun to watch swim around!. Elephants you have to watch for months on end and then all of a sudden you have a eureka moment. That's not quite feasible for zoo watching. Otters are instant gratification. My vote goes to the otters.

So here we are at the finals and it's a final that I didn't really expect. New Castle has come out of no where to show that it has a stronger fan following that expected. Pabst Blue Ribbon I might have been able to see but still two beers in the finals that you wouldn't normally expect. How's gonna take it all? My vote vote goes to PBR.

Beer - Round 4 (The Final Four)

Forgive me for the lateness on this round. For the past two days I was getting up at 3am to get ready for a TV show I was co-hosting and that left me with no time to update Coffee Cake. But we ill get Beer finished up and out the way on Sunday and move on to next week's tournament on Monday.

Let's do it!

Yuengling vs Newcastle: The battle of the #5s. Newcastle came out of nowhere to pull off a huge upset since it was tied with Guinness for two days. Someone went out and changed their vote. But Yuengling is my beer. That's where my vote is going.

Sam Adams vs Pabst Blue Ribbon: I'm going cheap on this one. My vote goes to Pabst Blue Ribbon. I like Sam Adams on draft but not in a bottle and Pabst Blue Ribbon never seems to let me down. Well at least until the bottle runs out.

So how do you recover from talking shit about a beer only to have it's makers read what you say? You vote for it? I was all excited when I realized that someone from Blue Moon was actually checking out the beer tournament then I realized I was kinda hard on old Blue Moon. Luckily, the folks from Blue Moon are good sports and came back to check on how their baby was doing. It even pulled out a win when things were looking bleak earlier in the day. Can Blue Moon keep chuggin' to the next round? Let's see.

Yuengling vs Lone Star: Lone Star has been our Cinderella but alas, I do believe the clock just struck 12.

Guinness vs New Castle: I can't believe New Castle made it this far, but whatever. Now it's got to deal with the big daddy of dark beers. Brown Ale my ass. Stout is where it's at sucka!

Miller High Life vs Pabst Blue Ribbon: The champagne of beers vs the award winner. It a cheap beer knock down, drag out! My money is on PBR.

Sam Adams vs Blue Moon: I am confident that Blue Moon will easily win this round. Wanna know why? I serve beer every day. I serve Blue Moons every day. Sometimes I go weeks without serving a Sam Adams. Now I know it has a lot to do with where you are in the country. And I know Sam Adams fans are dedicated. But honestly Blue Moon is more fun. It's easier to drink. Men and ladies like it. I'm going with Blue Moon here.

Beer - Round 2 (The Sweet Sixteen)

Well here we are at round 2 of the beer tournament. Some really surprising upsets and some really good down to the wire races. Dogfish Head ended up losing to Blue Moon as I received a great phone call from my boss telling me that we just received a case of Dogfish Head's Miles Davis Bitches Brew and we began planning a tasting and listening party. I got home to see Dogfish Head losing and it nearly broke my heart. But let's look at how the round two matches will shape up.

Budweiser vs Lone Star: The beer from Texas knocked out heavy weight Bud Light and now has to take on it's older brother. I'm going with Lone Star.

Yuengling vs Amber Bock: You're going down Amber Bock! You knocked out Amanda's favorite beer. I know Amanda won't be voting for Yuengling as much as she will be voting against you. Plus Amanda doesn't have anything against Yuengling. I've seen her drink it before but just know that Amanda and I are out to see you fail in this round you fake bock you!! (That really did just make me laugh.)

Guiness vs Stella Artois: Guinness. You can't really go wrong with it. Plus have you seen the new commercial with Jerome Bettis? That commercial alone makes me want to drink a Guinness.

New Castle vs Dos Equis: Dos Equis is getting my vote. Nat Turner and I were sitting earlier today and discussing our favorite Most Interesting Man In The World lines. Mine is "He lives vicariously though himself" and hers was "He can speak fluent French ... in Russian." However the commercial that made me laugh hardest was this.

Miller High Life vs Schlitz: The flavor of Schlitz is what I imagine a headache tastes like.

Pabst Blue Ribbon vs Colt 45: I really want to vote for Colt 45 but truth be told I will be voting for PBR. I can only drink Colt 45 about once a year and I've had my one for this year. I drank one and I was hanging out with my friend Monica. We ended up driving to Amanda's bar that night (OH I JUST HIT YOU WITH A DOUBLE WHAMMY!!). I proceeded to get so drunk that I woke up confused about where I was and I was in my own bed alone. Only Colt 45 can make something like that happen.

Sam Adams vs Bass: I'm going with Bass. Do you know Bass beer was the recipient of the worlds first trademark? Yep. The orange triangle is the worlds first trademark.

Blue Moon vs Fat Tire: I don't know what I am going to do here. I don't drink enough of either one of these to be able to make a clear decision. I'll get back to you all on this one.

Beer - Round 1

So let's just pretend that I haven't been missing in action for half a year and finally get this beer tournament and the rest of Coffee Cake done and get on to The Extravaganza. What'cha think?

So let's look at the match ups.

In this tournament the #1s aren't given a pass to the second round. Oddly enough, I think the safest to move on is Miller High Life. Up against Milwaukee's Best, it's hard to believe that High Life could lose but I know there are some cheap beer drinkers out there so there is a slim chance that The Beast could pull an upset. Another good #1 match to watch is Sam Adams vs Orval. Sam Adams is the better known of the two but amongst the beer connoisseurs Orval is considered one of the best beers in the world. I agree. I've had one and I love it. Plus it comes in this pimp ass glass when you order one. And it's brewed by monks. What more can you ask from a beer? Oh...it has a 6.2% alchol content. The average American beer is about 3.5%. My vote goes to Orval.

Blue Moon vs Dogfish Head: This is going to be the match to watch in the 2s vs 7s. I'm not a big fan of either though I've drank both. However, I am going with Dogfish Head in this match because I just recently found out that Dogfish Head made a beer called Miles Davis Bitches Brew in honor of the 40th year anniversary of iconic Jazz album. Blue Moon...what can I really say about beer that you have to put fruit in to drink? Let's see, beer with an orange? Beer with Jazz? Hmm...

Corona vs Dos Equis: I'ma stick with the aforementioned principle on this and go with Dos Equis. You ever tasted Corona without a lime? I'm always shocked when I see people drink it without the garnish. Plus, tell me you aren't in love with the Most Interesting Man In The World commercials. Stay thirsty my friends.

Miller Lite vs Amber Bock: Warning. This blog is NOT a drinking game!! But if it were, this is how it would go. Anytime I mention my friend Amanda, take a drink. And by that I mean, anytime you read Amanda's name. Any time I tell a story about Amanda and me drinking together or for that matter anytime I tell a story about me drinking with friends , drink a shot of whiskey or chug a beer. Anytime Amanda comments on a post, make someone else drink with you. Now that being said, I hate the taste of Miller Lite however, that's what Amanda drinks. You see, Amanda used to work for Miller so she has some sort of "they paid my bills" dedication to a beer that lies and says it Taste Great. While it may be true that it is less filling (but probably only because I usually refuse to drink it), WHO CARES! And I can't even figure out what the hell Amber Bock is supposed to be. It's not Amber in color and it doesn't taste like a bock. Michelob, I know your history! So don't keep trying to pull this crap on me damn it! I'm voting for AMANDA'S favorite beer and that should have been an easy vote for you to get from me cuz that shit is nasty!

Budweiser vs Michelob Ultra: Fuck Michelob.

Heineken vs Stella Artois: I'm going with Stella on this one. It's been years since I drank a Heineken but one thing I remember about them is that it always had a strange bitter taste to me. Stella on the other hand is nice and smooth. I understand it is the import version of Budweiser but really, sometimes drinking beer is like talking to your friends. The complex friends are interesting and fun but sometimes you just want light and easy conversation. That's when I go for the Stella.

Shlitz vs Natural Light: Do we really have to do this? Yes. Let me tell you a story about my friend Chris Busby. A couple of weeks ago Chris and I went to a concert. Before the show, I took him to one of Macon's nicest restaurants to try a new pecan beer they just got in. I bought the round. It was great. We leave there and head to the show and he repaid my kindness by buying a bucket of Natural Light. I had a terrible headache the next day. Now it could have been the shot of 151 and coke I was tricked into drinking but I am blaming the Natural Light. So I am voting for Shlitz.

Coors Light vs Yuengling: Coors commercials get on my nerves!! I mean damn the three big dummies talking to the NFL coaches was funny when you first did it. ... Sorta. But damn it's like 5 seasons later and you're still going with the same concept. Your other commercial is that a train comes out a brick wall and makes everyone cold. ... Now if that makes sense to any of the readers here, please stop reading my blog. Yuengling is just a good tasting beer from the nation's oldest brewery. I've never seen a commercial for it and I would still pick it before I pick the beer with the stupid commercials.

Red Stripe vs New Castle: I used to be a huge Red Stripe fan but around the time they started those Hooray Beer commercials the beer started to taste different to me. I don't know if my tastes just changed from trying so many different types of beer or if it was actually the beer. I'm still voting for Red Stripe cuz New Castle reminds me of the taste I have in my mouth after I vomit. That doesn't bode well for a night of drinking.

Colt 45 vs Keystone Light: Colt 45's slogan is "Works Every Time" and it's spokesperson is Billy Dee Williams. Keystone Light's slogan is "No Bitter Beer Face" and its spokesperson is the old man who can pull his bottom lip up over his nose. You figure out where my vote is going.

Fat Tire vs Sweetwater: Amanda.

Magazines - Round 5 (The Finals)

Well we have made it to the finals. Thanks to all of those you hung in there and voted on this first tournament since the little break I took. Let your friends know Coffee Cake is back and in full effect. Next week's tournament should be a lot of fun. We will be doing Beer. And the week after that should also be a hoot as we take on Zoo Animals.

But right now we are at the finals on Magazines. Let's take a look see.

National Geographic vs The New Yorker: I am going with The New Yorker on this one. Both of these magazines are absolutely top notch and the best of the best in bathroom reading. I think The New Yorker has the lock on the best articles while National Geographic has the best pictures. But the years of subscriptions to The New Yorker makes me lean that way. Plus I love those New Yorker comics..

National Geographic vs Playboy: All the fellas just kinda snickered. I'm going with Playboy. Honestly if Playboy didn't have naked women in it, it would still be a very good magazine.

The New Yorker vs High Times: This is the first time in the whole tournament that High Times didn't have to face off against a food magazine. I'm going with The New Yorker on this one. I love that magazine. It is such a good read every week. It hits on so many things that are important to me. Current events, art, music, politics, what's happening all over the world. I just dig it. High Times...well, no doubt that High Times is important but come on....

So we made it to round 2 and we are still going. The knees are still a little weak. The stomach is a little queezy but we are hanging in there. Let's look at today's match ups.

Bon Appetit vs High Times: I like that High Times has to take on two cooking magazines in the first two rounds. It beat A Taste Of Home to move on to the second round and it is giving Bon Appetit a run for its money today. I'm sure there have been recipes in High Times.

Better Homes and Gardens vs Complex: I think the readers of Readymade are probably jumping on the Better Homes and Gardens bandwagon. I don't think the guys buyers guide stands a chance this round even though I voted for it.

The New Yorker vs WIRED: I love The New Yorker. I feel smarter for reading it. I feel sophisticated when I laugh at the comics in it. I dream of strolling through the MoMA after reading about a great exhibit there. I subscribe to it off an on. Right now I am without a subscription and I miss it. I've never read WIRED so I think you can figure where my vote is going to go.

Popular Science vs The Smithsonian: There is a point in your life when you realize that you are no longer edgy or cool. I hit that point when I realized that the only radio station I listen to is NPR are my only magazine subscription currently is to The Smithsonian. Now don't get me wrong, The Smithsonian has some good reading in it. Really interesting stuff. But come on this is the Nova of magazines. I'm a nerd. My co-workers ask me to hang out on a Monday night and I tell them no cuz I have to get home and listen to RadioLab on Georgia Public Broadcasting. I go and sit on the toilet and I grab a copy of The Smithsonian. Then I talk about it on my blog. How did life get this way?

Rolling Stone vs Playboy: These are two of America's greatest magazines. They both broke ground. Gave some of the greatest interviews ever printed. They changed society. But Playboy...ahhhh I remember the first Playboy I ever saw. It was the one with Vanna White. The second one I saw had Ola Ray as the centerfold. Ola Ray was the girl in Michael Jackson's Thriller vicdeo. She had the prettiest nipples I had ever seen. And at that time I hadn't seen many but I still remember those nipples. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only guy who can remember the first Playboy they've ever seen. The reason for this is most likely because, like me, their first viewing of a Playboy probably coincides with the first time they masturbated. Then depending on how you look at it, life is all downhill from there. You spend the rest of your life chasing women. Well, I'm voting for Playboy. Thanks for ruining my life. Please start putting more natural women in the magazine again so I can start subscribing again. Thanks.

Magazines - Round 1

Well, it's finally here. I guess you all are wondering what happened. Well to be honest I got burned out. Those three big 64entrant tournaments back to back like that left me with Blog block. I just couldn't seem to get myself to get the next tournament together. Which was really ridiculous cuz it's not like I'm saying anything important on Coffee Cake. I'm spitting non-sense. But I couldn't come up with one lick of non-sense to spit. I kept looking at the Magazines tournament and thinking it was going to be boring. I couldn't come up with anything worth reading. Who cares about magazines. Then I was walking down the street the other day and I bump into Michael and Angel "this Girl" Collins and Big Ben. Big Ben said the key to the down time was the movies tournament. The first time we did a movies tournament Coffee Cake went down for months. This time we do the movies tournament and I take a month break. They all said, "Yeah. Don't ever do another Movies tournament." It made me laugh. The first time I had laughed about Coffee Cake since the movies tournament ended. I promised Big Ben that I would have it up right away and here it is.

Rolling Stone vs URB: I just recently saw a copy of Rolling Stone and it was normal magazine size. Blew my mind. This recession is even hurting our magazines. It's coll though. Rolling Stone hasn't had anything useful to say about music in the last 15 years. Ok I know that's not true but there is so much pop culture, bullshit that I started to disregard Rolling Stone as a magazine worth reading and I can't remember the last time I really got into one. Now URB, I used to read URB every month. It kept me up on what was happening in the world of Underground Hip-Hop, House, Electronica and just sub-culture music and DJs. Just like Rolling Stone I've stopped reading it. It just wasn't as interesting and I don't have a good reason why. My vote goes with URB in the battle of the magazines I don't care about anymore.

Time vs Lowrider: Lowrider. I don't think I've ever read a copy of Time. But I can sure tell you there are fly ass cars, bad ass bikes and hot Latin women in every issue of Lowrider. The only thing I remember about Time is that O.J. Simpson cover.

Better Homes and Gardens vs O: What the fuck is O about? There is a picture of Oprah on every issue ever published. How much Oprah can one person stand? I mean just from the cover of the magazine I think that it's full of stories about Oprah. I know that can't possibly be. I know what's in Better Homes and Gardens. The name says it all. And I also know there are some bad ass recipes in there. And I love to eat. My vote goes with Better Homes and Gardens. But first back to O. I am stuck because I want just once for them to put something on the cover other than Oprah but at the same time, why break that record? What to do? What to do?

National Geographic vs Mad: Now a days I'm all about National Geographic. As a kid I didn't get it. It was the magazine of choice of the doctor's office so it already had a big fuckin' strike against it in my mind. If it was in the doctor's office, it was evil. It did have one thing going for it. Boobies. They weren't sexy boobies in the least bit but they were boobies none the less. I hadn't discovered Playboy yet. Now back then Mad magazine made all types of sense. No it didn't. I didn't get Mad any more than I got National Geographic but it seemed like something I should like cuz it was a comic. Anyway, I'm voting for National Geographic.

Cosmopolitan vs Paste: I used to love Paste. I was a three year subscriber to that magazine. I even DJed a party for someone who works for Paste. But slowly but surely it seemed like Paste only began to talk about that damn light in the ass indie-rock crap that comes out of Athens, Georgia. For Years Paste had introduced me to so much good music and movies and gave me interesting articles on some of my favorite artists and then they left me hanging. No I've never subscribed to Cosmopolitan but there are always sexy ladies in that magazine and they tell me stuff like "What a woman really wants". Cuz lord knows I don't have any of the stuff that a woman really wants. Good thing I'm smart enough to read a woman's magazine cuz they sure don't publish articles like that in Playboy and GQ. I think they are missing their intended audience. However, they get the vote for putting sexy women in the magazine.

Popular Science vs The Advocate: To be honest, I don't even know anything about The Advocate.

*Wait. I gotta go pay my phone bill and get some lunch. I promise I will look up The Advocate when I get back and talk some more about today's matches*

Ok so I'm back home and I've just found out that The Advocate is "The World's Leading Gay News Source". I am sure that The Advocate is a fine magazine and is full of all the news that's fit for print in the gay community but I am voting for Popular Science. Not because I'm not gay but because I had a subscription to Popular Science growing up because I wanted to be a scientist. I swear if I had wanted to grow up and be gay I would have asked for a subscription to The Advocate and my voting today would be different. But it didn't work out that way. At age 3 I saw Star Wars instead of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Bon Appetit vs Garden and Gun: When you're working in your garden aren't you always thinking about guns? I'm voting for Garden and Gun just based off the name alone. I've seen one issue of it and I have to admit it really is a cool magazine even if the title and the content is a bit strange sometimes.

The Final Four is here. I haven't been able to run my mouth about the matches like I usually do this tournament. So I am going to try to get a few things in here.

The Shawshank Redemption vs Star Wars: Two #1s battling it out. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The story was just amazing. The acting was wonderful. You coudln't help but pull for Andy Dufresne. Then the movie rewarded you for pulling for him when you realized he had escaped. Then it got even better when you realized that everyone who screwed him over got screwed in the end. I loved it. But it ain't no Star Wars. I saw Star Wars when it was originally released in New York as part of a double feature. Grease was the other movie in the double feature. From that point on I was hooked. I was only 2 years old about to turn 3 in a month. Still remember it. That's how much of an impact it had on me. I decided at a young age that I wanted to be a scientist because my mom told me that's what I would have to be when I told her that I wanted to build the robots and spaceships in Star Wars. I went on to become a bartender but I did have a semi successful run as a computer programmer. My whole life has revolved around Star Wars. The fact that I do everything I contemplate doing comes from the fact that in The Empire Strikes back Yoda says, "There is no try. Just do or do not." And let me talk about the genius of two characters. Chewbacca and R2D2. Neither one of these muthafuckas could talk but you loved them! They made noises. Chewbacca howled and gunted. But you understood him. R2D2 even had a sense of humor and all he did was make beeps and whistles. That's good stuff right there. The feeling you get when you grow attached to the lovable asshole Han Solo then you think he's turned his back on the Rebellion only for him to come through in the end and clear the way for Luke so he can blow up the Death Star. And then there was one of the greatest villains ever created in Darth Vader. What was he? Is he a robot? Is he human? Why is he breathing like that? WHOA! He choked that guy without touching him.
So needless to say. I'm voting for Star Wars.

The Godfather vs The Princess Bride: I like the Godfather. It is a really good movie but you know what gets me everytime I watch it? The scene where they are having the big meeting and they are talking about how they want no parts of the drugs and they say something like leave the drugs to the niggers. "They're animals anyway so let them lose their souls." That one scene is why I am voting for the much happier and friendlier Princess Bride. Not to mention Andre the Giant is in that movie. I mean, if you grew up in the 80s you loved Andrew the Giant. I wish I could have met him. Seems like the type of person who would have really been nice to kids. Plus I love the idea of the gentle giant. I hope kids see me as a gentle giant cuz I get all nervous when I'm around little kids. They remind me of how big I am. I honestly worry that I may fall on a little kid when they are playing around with me. ... Anyway... Pirates. A giant. A bad ass sword fight. Billy Crystal. How can you beat this? You can't.

And that's why the finals will be Star Wars vs The Princess Bride.

Wow! Look at this Elite Eight. This is something you don't see too often on Coffee Cake and it must mean that I seeded these movies almost spot on to what all of our readers think. All of the #1s are representing. There are three #2s getting ready to battle it out to stay alive. And one Cinderella. A little ol' #10 in Back To The Future still alive and in the hunt. This is going to be interesting.

Movies - Round 3 (The Sweet Sixteen)

Hi there! How are you today? Thanks for coming by Coffee Cake. That was nice of you. If you've got a few minutes, please, sit down and let me tell you what I think about today's matches.

The Princess Bride vs Stand By Me: In my mind this is a battle between Andre the Giant and Cherry Flavored Pez. I really like both of these movies but I have to admit I haven't seen Stand By Me since I was a kid. I own a copy of The Princess Bride. One of my favorite lines in the movie, and I never noticed it before until Trivia Guy Will pointed it out, is when the Dread Pirate Scott knocks out Andre the Giant and then tells him to dream of large women.

The Wizard of Oz vs The Royal Tenenbaums: I have to admit that I was never quite comfortable enough with The Wizard of Oz to be super into it like some people are. I mean yeah I think it would be cool to have a talking lion as a friend but I don't want to live in a world where trees throw apples at me and monkeys fly. If I had awaken in a world like that I don't think I would have handled it as well as Dorothy did. So I am going to vote for The Royal Tenenbaums. One of my favorite scenes from that movie is when Danny Glover falls in the hole at the excavation site while he is talking to Anjelica Houston. That happened to me once. It's another Jack induced story starring me and Amanda. We were walking up the driveway to a friend's house who was having a party and we had already hit the sauce pretty hard. So we're just walking and talking and I look back over at Amanda and she wasn't there anymore. I'm confused and I'm thinking, "What happened?" I look down and Amanda is laying in a pile of rocks off to the side of the driveway. It was so weird looking cuz she looked like a fish who was gasping it's last few breaths out of water. Just kinda laying there helpless. Trying to move but going nowhere. Needless to say she was bruised up for a week after that.

Ghostbusters vs Back To The Future: The battle of the 80s comedies. I'm going Back To The Future. Marty McFly drove a Delorean. Let me tell you, I still kinda have a thing for Hot Wheels. The other day I was in Kroger with my friend Jinger and we were standing at a box full of Hot Wheels for $1 each. I almost had a panic attack cuz she pulled out a Delorean. I thought she was going to buy it so I snatched it from her. Turns out she didn't want it anyway. She wanted the Lamborghini that was under it. I said all that to say this. If this tournament was about cars (which is coming up) though I'd like a Cadillac hearse, I'd be voting Delorean.

Ok folks. Aren't there enough Bill Murray movies in this tournament? Did you really have to vote for Groundhog Day over Amelie? I'm gonna go ahead and just say this right now and get this out the way. I DON'T LIKE BILL MURRAY.

Yeah I said it.

I think every character he plays is creepy. That has to say something about him. And if his movies weren't enough to make me dislike him, he pulled this shit where the Chicago Cubs asked him to throw out the first pitch and the muthafucka didn't show up to do it? What the fuck kinda shit is that? You know how excited I'd be if my favorite baseball team asked me to throw out the first pitch of the season? Hell, if one of our little minor league teams asked me to throw out the first pitch I'd be there 2 hours early. That might be the biggest day of my life up to that point. But one thing I can say is since Bill Murray didn't show up to throw out the first pitch, a couple of kids from a die hard Cubs family got to do it instead and that was far cooler than some creepy actor doing it.

I know I'm gonna catch flack from Chris Horne and Jonathan Bennett. So.

Yeah...so after I was bragging on my Tigers we turned around and lost today to Kansas City. That's ok. We're 6 and 3. Still looking good at the beginning of the season. So let's look at today's matches.

Shawshank Redemption vs Fargo: This should be an easy win Shawshank has Morgan Freeman in it. He's a nice looking and well spoken man. Can't help but like him. You kinda wish he was your uncle or something. Fargo has Steve Buscemi, who is not so nice looking, and a woman with a funky accent. So Shawshank should win on the strength of Morgan Freeman alone. I'm pretty sure I heard Peter Griffin comment on Steve Buscemi once by saying his teeth look like they are all in competition against each other.

Breakfast At Tiffany's vs The Eternal Sunshine of the Spoless Mind: I've never seen either one of these movies But I'm voting for Breakfast At Tiffany's because that title is easier to type. Keep it short and simple! Geez. It's all long and drawn out and hard to understand. Breakfast at Tifanny's answers all the important questions. "Honey what are we eating?" Breakfast. "Where?" At Tiffany's. That title could only get better if it was Breakfast At Tiffany's At 8am.

Cool Hand Luke vs Clerks: I've never seen Cool Hand Luke so I am going with Clerks. My favorite part of Clerks is the conversation they have about contractors building the Death Star in Star Wars.

Forrest Gump vs Groundhog Day: Fuck Bill Murray. ... "That's all I have to say about that." (c) Forrest Gump

The Godfather vs The Exorcist: The Godfather. I still try to tell them not to go to the toll booth every time I see that movie. NO! NO DON'T DO IT! OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh nooooooooo..

The Blues Brothers vs American Psycho: The Blues Brothers has one of my favorite lines in it. Donald "Duck" Dunn (who is the bass player for Booker T. and The MGs in real life) says, "He ain't lying. We had a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline." Love it.

Ghost Busters vs Beetlejuice: This is probably one of the best match ups Coffee Cake has seen. I'm going with Ghost Busters. But really I see this being such a hard pick for so many people. These are two childhood favorites. I wonder how many people played with their Beetlejuice and Ghost Buster toys together. Did they ever bust Beetlejuice or was he too clever?

Tetris pulls out the win and moves on to The Extravaganza. Tetris won its match by the lowest percentage that we've seen yet. With only 53% Tetris just assured that it will most likely be a #8 seed in The Extravaganza. And we are just about halfway to The Extravaganza. So there are roughly 16 more tournaments til we vote on the big one.

Movies is on deck and coming up next (Like my use of baseball terms? Go Tigers!) . I may be a little late with the next tournament. I'm still working on it.

Video Games - Round 6 (The Finals)

So here we are at the finals. Zelda vs Tetris. I'm shocked that Tetris made it to the finals. I like Jonathan Bennett figured it would have gone down to Mario Bros and even Ms Pac-Man before that. But maybe those two matches are proof that Tetris has what it takes to win it all.
So we will take tomorrow off, then we will regroup back here on Monday for the start of the movies tournament. Another big 64 tournament. The following week will be Magazines and though I've had fun doing the big tournaments, I am looking forward to a small 32 tournament.

Video Games - Round 5 (The Final Four)

So we have come down to a battle of the Nintendo games in the final four huh?

Zelda vs Super Smash Bros.: Super Smash Bros is totally outclassed in this match. Outclassed meaning it probably should have lost two rounds ago. But since it is here it is giving the cake walk to Zelda.

Mario Bros vs Tetris: Tough call. I, like Will, spent more time playing Tetris on my Gameboy than I probably should have. But even though I don't really play a lot of video games, I have a soft spot for Mario Bros.

However this pans out, I see a really good final coming tomorrow.

Next week's tournament is movies. If you have any sugguestions for movies you would like to see in the tournament, add them over on our Facebook page. And while you are there make fun of Amy Beth and Vance for suggesting The Labyrinth.

Video Games - Round 4 (The Elite Eight)

Last round was just amazing to me. So many close races. Even the weird thing where I swear Ms Pac-Man was tied with Donkey Kong only to later find that Ms Pac-Man had won by one vote was exciting. It made me look stupid but it was still exciting. This is where things get good folks after today there will only be 4 games left standing.

Ms Pac-Man vs Tetris: Fuck that shit Angel is trying to put in your ear down there in the comments. I'ma tell you why Ms Pac-Man is going to win. Cuz Nike designed a shoe called The Ms Pac-Man. If anyone wants to buy me a gift, I'd like a pair of these in a men's size 12. There is no Tetris shoe...to my knowledge. There is also a line of Adidas Star Wars shoes (especially the Luke Skywalkers in orange) that I wouldn't mind having. I know I'm not supposed to be talking about shoes but this is a great opportunity to talk about shoes that I want. Oh yeah, there is also a Pac-Man version of the shoe. Remember, size 12.

Zelda vs Metroid: Ok see this is where my lack of gaming knowledge kicks in. I've never played either one of these games. I don't understand why the game is called The Legend of Zelda when the main character's name is Link. And Metroid sounds like a mental condition that makes you paranoid when you are in a metropolis. I'm going with Zelda cuz my mental state is bad enough with out help from a video game.

Super Smash Bros vs Mortal Combat: More whoop ass goodness right here. I've never played Super Smash Bros but I like the idea of it. I'm voting for Mortal Combat because Scorpion says, "GET OVER HERE! ... COME HERE!" That is still funny to me.

Mario Bros vs Castlevania: I'm pretty sure I remember Kevin playing Castlevania. I have no clue what that game is about. But I do enjoy me some Super Mario Bros. I liked 3 a lot. You could fly. I guess you were supposed to be a flying squirrel but it looked like a raccoon to me. I've never heard of a flying raccoon but hey it worked for the game.

I am going to be putting together the bracket for next week's movie tournament this evening. If you are in Macon (sorry to folks from Loyola Marymount, Manchester, Kennebunkport and other places that are not Macon) and you would like to help but the bracket together we will be meeting at 6pm this evening at The Rookery in downtown Macon.

This second round is serious. Great matches. Let's go!

Galaga vs Crazy Taxi: I just like this match up. Two great games. If I see a Galaga machine I'm gonna stick a quarter in it. But cutting lose in a convertible taxi and driving like I've lost all my good senses is just too appealing. My vote goes to Crazy Taxi.

Resident Evil vs Halo: I am sure there are people who exist whose heads would implode from trying to choose between these two. I'm going with Halo on this but only because Resident Evil gives me nightmares. But while I'm speaking on Resident Evil I have to say it is pretty cool that you can get Resident Evil 4 on the iPad.

Final Fantasy vs Excite Bike: If you play RPGs you can understand why Final Fantasy has a somewhat cultish type of following. Final Fantasy is not a game for people with short attention spans. You invest a lot of time into playing and you are rewarded with watching a wonderful story unfold. But can it beat pure nostalgia. Excite Bike was the game everyone talked about on the NES. You played it for hours with your friends. I'm a dedicated Final Fantasy fan so my vote is going with FF but I can see bow Excite Bike could give FF a run for its money.

Super Smash Bros vs Double Dragon: It's the battle of the ass whoopers. You can waste an endless amount of time on either one of these daydreaming that each punch you throw in the game was actually landing on the nose of the bully who took your lunch money and called you a geek. But I'm going with Double Dragon.

Mortal Combat vs Dragon's Lair: This is a tough one for me. I was a freshman in college when the first mortal combat was at its peak. I remember spending many an hour in the student activities building playing that game, but I could never beat it. I could whoop just about anybody's ass in a head to head using Liu Kang but I could. not. beat. that damn game. Now Dargon's Lair. Dragon's Lair is the game I used to wait in line to play at Chuck E. Cheese. I was so young and so bad at video games, but still I'd stand there in line with my $.50 cents in hand. See, while it is no big deal to pay $1 to play a video game today, $.50 was a lot back then because all video games were only $.25. But it was worth it. Oh boy, was it worth it cuz this game was both a video game and a cartoon and I loved both. And if I remember correctly, I wanted to fuck Princess Daphne and I was clueless as to what that even meant but I knew that there was something about her. So, I'm standing there, gripping my $.50 and patiently waiting while the guy that's playing is beating the game. I'd seen that guy many times before and he always beat the game without losing a man. I wait there until he beats the game and finally my time arrives and I step up to the machine. I put my $.50 in the machine. I grab the joystick and... .. ...I'm off the game in less than a minute.
*sigh*
I wish I could play that game still to this day. I'd spend a lot of money playing it until I beat it.

Ms Pac-Man vs Duck Hunt: The battle of the old school favorites. Tough choice to be made here. Still love to see a Ms Pac-Man. Especially a table top Ms. Pac-Man. I just always thought that having a video game as a coffee table was the coolest thing in the world. But we all loved playing Duck Hunt. How many times have you gotten mad at that dog for laughing at you when you missed and tried to shoot him? Yeah we all did it. But I gotta go with Ms. Pac-Man. Such great memories surround sometimes just having a Ms. Pac-Man machine in the room. Those machines signify a certain time period. Arcade games were everywhere you went. I miss that.

Tetris vs Tomb Raider: I spent many an hour watching Kevin make Lara Croft try to jump and grab hold to some ledge. Needless to say that was boring for me. On the other hand though, I remember my parents actually bought me a Gameboy (I wonder what line I ran on them to dish out that kinda cash. I probably tricked them by saying it was something educational.) so I have played Tetris for many more hours. I feel sorry for that younger me. I needed a life. But still it was cool to see the rocket take off on Tetris.

Mario Kart vs Sonic the Hedgehog: They must call hedgehogs hedgehogs cuz the look like little pigs that are carrying little bushes on their backs cuz other wise it wouldn't make sense to name them after a fat guy sitting by a bush saying, "No. Get out of here. You can't have any of this hedge, it's mine." I'm just saying...it doesn't make sense.

Video Games - Round 1

Well, here we are with another week of Coffee Cake and this week we will be exploring the wonderful world of video games. I'ma tell you right now, I know very little about video games. I'm old school as hell and most of my favorite games didn't even make the tournament. They are just so old that no one gives a shit about them any more. That being said I hope the seeding of the tournament doesn't make me an embarrassment to any hard core games who might be reading. And just in case there are some hard core gamers who are turning up their noses to my rankings, get a life geek! I'm a DJ by trade. I'm was too busy making the party live and getting all the girls to sit around moving my thumb around.
No, just kidding (not really). To be honest this tournament is dedicated to my friend Kevin. He has been a true gamer ever since I've known him and most of what I know about video games I learned from hanging out with him. We used to go to arcades where he would be in Street Fighter tournaments and playing other games so well that people would stand around and watch him play. I, on the other hand, would find the nearest bar and order a beer.

So let's talk about the matches.

The number 1s look pretty safe. The 16 seeds are pretty interesting games though. Oregon Trail was fun. I don't know if it was REALLY fun or if I was just happy to be playing a game on the computer at school. I mean really your characters would be dying of dysentery. I didn't know what dysentery was back then. That's a lot to hang on a kid who just wants to play a game. Space Invaders is one of the first games I remember being able to play well. I remember playing it for so long one time that the game just said, "Congratulations" and started completely over. Toe Jam and Earl...never liked that name. Pong...still fun and for some reason the simple name make me giggle inside.

Chrono Trigger vs Crazy Taxi: I had never even heard of Chrono Trigger until I made this bracket. While I was struggling trying to seed the games, I looked at a lot of Top 100s list. Chronos Trigger was in the top 5 on a lot of lists. How can that be and I've never even heard of it? Well, I do know Crazy Taxi was a lot of fun. I had forgotten about it until I saw a commercial where someone was playing it. I always picked the dread locked taxi driver.

Resident Evil vs Ecco the Dolphin: I remember watching Kevin play Resident Evil. The shit was nasty. More than I could handle. I've never seen Ecco the Dolphin in action before but I'm sure a dolphin couldn't possibly freak me out as bad as the Resident Evil zombies. My vote goes to Ecco.

World of Warcraft vs Double Dribble: I've never played World of Warcraft. I'm an Everquest man myself. But I am going to pick it because I love RPGs. What I remember most about Double Dribble was that it was one of the first games I heard talk. When it came on it said Double Dribble and you know what it said but is sounded like someone was saying it with a mouth full of water.

Super Smash Bros vs The Sims: I'm voting for Super Smash Bros. Let me tell you why. When The Sims hit the market everyone seems like they were playing it. My friends finally talked me into trying it and what the fuck is this shit? I'm baby sitting a video game. I don't need a guilt trip cuz my video game died cuz I forgot to feed it! It was a person. When people get hungry they go find food. Or how bout I leave for awhile and come back to find my video game is dead because apparently it was so dumb that when it found food it burned the house down trying to cook it. And worst of all my video game pissed on itself because I didn't tell it to go to the bathroom. I deal with dumb people on a daily basis. The last thing I need is a game simulating how dumb humanity it. Super Smash Bros gets the vote.

Guitar Hero vs X-Wing: Yo. X-Wing was dope. I played the hell out of that game. Those missions were a lot of fun and challenging. I wasn't very good at the game but so what I was flying an X-Wing and a Y-Wing and that was good enough for me. I admit I like guitar hero but getting to pretend to be in rogue squadron was the greatest thing a game could offer me.

I want to clear up something because I've been hearing a lot of grumbling as I talk to people. Some of the Coffee Cake members who have been voting for awhile think that the Gargoyles fans are cheating. Let me tell you, they are not.
A Gargoyles fansite has been promoting this tournament through their website message boards and through Twitter. Nothing wrong with that. Subway, KFC and Taco Bell did the same thing when we did Fast Food and so did eBaum's World and Cinematical when we did Websites.
Now I did see what looked like a student at a University in San Antonio where it looked like they kept logging in at a different computer in the computer lab but I don't think that had anything to do with Gargoyles.
They are up against some stiff competition this round. Do they have the strength to pull off two more wins? We will see.

I'd talk more about this round but I am typing this from work.

Cartoons - Round 4 (The Elite Eight)

This is crazy. Gargoyles and Animaniacs (not to mention some bad picks on their own) are straight messing up the brackets for the people in the T-shirt contest. The Elite Eight could make things mighty ugly for them. Let's look at the match ups.

Looney Tunes vs Animaniacs: Yes Animaniacs gave us Pinky and the Brain, The God Pigeon, and all that but there would be no Animaniacs with out Looney Tunes. Give me Bugs, Daffy and Porky.

Scooby Doo vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: While I will admit that I liked the Turtles, Scooby Doo is just more my era. I always wanted to be a part of that crew. I wondered how come they were so young and travelling the country in such a cool van. Why weren't they in school? Why didn't they have jobs. How could I do that and avoid the ghosts and shit? Scooby gets my vote.

The Simpsons vs Gargoyles: This should be simple. The Simpsons. But Gargoyles has been kicking butt all tournament long. While I'm going to vote for The Simpsons I think Gargoyles will probably win this match and head to the final four. Is Gargoyles the Butler University of this tournament? We shall see.

Transformers vs South Park: Come on be honest. The very idea of what a transformer is is awesome. Like if your cell phone could turn into a robot and help you lift that heavy box your boss told you to move, you'd be all about that, wouldn't you? Damn right. Now the idea behind South Park is a bunch of bad ass kids and dumb adults. I LIVE THIS CARTOON EVERYDAY!! Give me Transformers. Let me dream.

Cartoons - Round 3 (The Sweet Sixteen)

I'm updating this at work so this update is going to be sporadic at best. So please bear with me.

Let me start things out but saying fuck cartoon ducks. Because of Darkwing Duck and Duck Tales I now hate both Daffy and Donald (Donald's punk ass is even related to most of the characters in those cartoons), both of which I used to be big fans of. Come on, The Peanuts Gang goes down to a bunch of ducks? Good grief!!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs Ren and Stimpy: I never liked Ren and Stimpy. Shit was nasty. Michealangelo was my boy. TMNT it is.

Scooby Doo vs Dexter's Lab: I had a crush on Velma from Scooby Doo. She was hiding something awesome under that orange sweater, I just know it. If you are a girl who people tell you that you look like Velma, shoot me an email. We got a date made in animation fetish heaven. But truth be told Scooby Doo couldn't always hold my attention. Dexter's Lab is always funny to me. Dexter get's the vote.

Animaniacs vs The Tick: This is a losing battle for me. I'm voting for The Tick. That show just appeals perfectly to my sense of humor. But Animaniacs was good. Real good. And folks love it. I know it's going to win. But I'm pulling for you Tick.

Looney Tunes vs Pinky and the Brain: Pinky and the Brain have been killing it each round and I have been voting against theam each time. I'm going to continue to vote against them this round. I love Bugs Bunny and all of the Looney Tunes characters. Even Daffy. But I think they may be going down this round.

Duck Tales vs Gargoyles: I've never seen Gargoyles but I am voting for them. Fuck a duck.

The Simpsons vs Batman: This is another possible loss of a #1. I'm pulling for The Simpsons but The Dark Knight probably has what it takes to knock them off.

Amazing first round. Some big names went down in the first round. Voltron, The Boondocks, Woody Woodpecker, Family Guy, Fat Albert all went home with their heads hanging down. Big surprise of the day was Gargoyles fans turning out in big numbers to support their show. Can they keep it moving against anime favorite Cowboy Bebop? We'll see. It's round 2!

The Flintstones vs Muppet Babies: I'm picking the Flintstones. They had so many great years and over those years gave us so many great characters, like The Great Gazoo. Even though I watched Muppet Babies every Saturday and loved all of their Star Wars references, The Flintstones covered a wider span of time in my life. Gotta go with The Flintstones.

Transformers vs Popeye: You know who my favorite character on Transformers is? Well as a kid it was Jazz. Who didn't love Scatman Curruthers voice if you grew up in that time period? Now a days my favorite character is Starscream. What a fucked up, backstabbing, ass kisser. Have you ever held an office job and worked with a person like that? You hate them. Starscream took that personality to such a beautiful extreme. You can laugh at him and hate him at the same time. My vote goes with Transformers.

The Smurfs vs Darkwing Duck: When they announced that The Smurfs were going to be released on DVD I went and reserved a copy. I live in Macon, Georgia. There was no chance that The Smurfs on DVD was going to sell out. I can't tell you how many times I've watched that DVD, and I fall out every time Smurfette wishes Clumsy Smurf was "fit as a fiddle" and because of Hogatha's enchancted necklace Clumsy comes running out the house and he has turned into a fiddle I fall out. The Smurfs get the vote Darkwing Duck gets the rub cuz he beat Fat Albert.

The Simpsons vs King of the Hill: Poor Hank Hill. You love him like you loved Archie Bunker. Sorry pal there's not enough sympathy for you to make me vote against 20 years of television. Can you believe that next year the people who turn drinking age will have had the Simpsons on TV their entire life?

Inspector Gadget vs Batman: Growing up I had a crush on Cree Summer who played Freddie on "A Different World". The reason I am telling you this is because Cree Summer was the voice of Penny on Inspector Gadget. She also did a voice on the Ewoks cartoon series. Ewoks are part of the Star Wars franchise. Mark Hamil played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. He is also the voice of The Joker on the Batman cartoon series. I'm voting for Batman. See how this all ties together?

Cowboy Bebop vs Gargoyles: Can't say I know anything about Gargoyles other than it has some sort of cult following. But Cowboy Bebop was my joint. That opening theme was great. The Teddy Bear Bomber episode is one of my favorites. Jet Black is in the top 5 of my all time favorite cartoon characters. My vote is with Cowboy Bebop.

The Peanuts vs Duck Tales: You're kidding. The Peanuts all day. Nothing beats Charlie Brown and Linus leaning on the wall waxing poetic over the meaning of all things. Plus Franklin was the man.

Looney Toons vs Thundercats: Let's talk monsters here. Gossamer was the best monster ever. Mum-Ra was the worst villain ever. My vote goes to Looney Tunes.

Power Puff Girls vs Pinky and the Brain: Mojo JoJo. How can you lose with a name like that?

G.I. Joe vs Anamaniacs: When you get older you see things differently. I'm not going to get on a soap box but as a kid G.I. Joe was my favorite cartoon and my favorite toys. Now, the idea of war disgusts me. To think that I sat for hours on end watching a cartoon about war trips me out. I still like it but it is mainly for the kitsch factor. What I remember most about Animaniacs is the song about all the states and their capitols. Entertainment and educational. I dig it. Animaniacs get the vote.

Tom & Jerry vs The Tick: I don't care what any of you old violence loving people say, The Tick was one of the funniest shows on TV at the time bar none. There were two episodes where The Tick had a pet dog that everyone thought either had some health issues or it was just dumb. Come to find out it wasn't even a dog at all, it was a sewer rat. There was an episode that involved a time machine and somehow historical figures of the past formed a crime fighting team. George Washington Carver had a gun that shot peanuts!! The Tick baby. Remind me to buy that on DVD.

The Jetsons vs Dexter's Lab: I love the opening theme to The Jetsons. It reminds me of Esquavel. But Dexter's Lab is like someone tapped into my wildest dreams as a kid and made that cartoon. I wanted to be a scientist as a kid and I wanted to build robots. Dexter's Lab gets my vote.

The much hyped, much anticipated Cartoon tournament is here. Before we get started let me just mention some cartoons who didn't make it. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, G-Force (Battle of the Planets: That's G-Force in the bracket), Speed Racer, Johnny Quest, Thundar The Barbarian, Samurai Champloo, Ranma 1/2, Gundam Wing. There are plenty others but those are my faves that didn't make the tournament. There's always next Extravaganza.

We've got a little competition going on between the readers. Jonathan, Will, Catherine, Ben, and Michael are all competing for a Coffee Cake Extravaganza "Home Cooked Dishes" T-Shirt. You can follow their progress in the side bar.

Now let's look at the matches.

I don't see any of the #1s getting upset. While I loved Aesop's Fables of the Green Forest, it doesn't have the umph to knock off The Flintstones. Fuck Rainbow Brite. The Gummi Bears couldn't even spell their name right and Captain Planet... I hated that show. You don't understand. I HATED that show. I remember getting mad when it would come on. I thought that it was a waste of airtime and that it was jeopardizing the state of cartoons in America it was so bad. I thought that people who put shows on tv would look at that and say if this is the best cartoon we have to offer maybe we just shouldn't show any. So Captain Planet, you get a #16 with your sorry ass story lines and "with our powers combined" fuck you. How bout that?

Moving on.

Rugrats vs Dora the Explorer: Let me tell you something about me and Nickelodeon. A lot of shows that became popular I was just too old to give a shit about. Rugrats was one of them. Rugrats were everywhere and I tried to watch it and just couldn't get into it. Didn't even understand what was going on. My vote goes with Dora the Explorer strictly cuz she said, "Swiper no swiping." And I like Boots. (You really need to click that Swiper No Swiping link.)

South Park vs Beavis and Butthead: Would South Park have existed if Beavis and Butthead had not offended everybody first? I don't know. But I do remember a conversation between Beavis and Butthead while they were watching a Janet Jackson video and they were talking about how hot she was (cuz she sure used to be. I'd pass on her now. But when I was little and watching Good Times and when I hit my 20s during the Janet. album era, Wooo Good Golly Ms Molly). Anyway. Beavis climbs up on the back of the couch and starts humping it and he says he would "Rat a tat tat on that ass." Those were my boys from that day on. But South Park had Issac Hayes. How cool was that? And remember Terrence and Phillip in the movie where they imitate Mase and Puffy? But see...That was in the movie, not the tv show so it doesn't count. I'm going with Beavis and Butthead.

Popeye vs The Pink Panther: I am voting for The Pink Panther. He had a theme song done by Henry Mancini. Now let me talk about Popeye for a bit. I liked Popeye as a kid cuz I liked to see him beat up Bluto (or Brutus) but I remember always losing interest in the show because why were they fighing over that skinny ugly woman? That was all there was to Popeye if you think about it. A love triangle full of testosterone and knobby knees and elbows...and a can of spinach. Weirdest orgy every. But the Pink Panther also had shorts from Inspector Clouseau and a Jewish Aardvark. Loved that Aardvark and listen to that music!

Transformers vs Sailor Moon: Fuck Sailor Moon.

Fat Albert vs Darkwing Duck: Come on. Do I even have to say? While I liked Darkwing Duck I can not quote one thing from that cartoon. Angel "This Girl" Collins can but she's a nerd so it doesn't really count. I'm cool so I only quote cool things like, "Hey Hey Hey" and "You're like school on a Saturday...no class". This is the song that I always remembered from Fat Albert (other than that bad ass theme song). Listen to that hook. Soap and water. A tooth brush and a comb. You should learn to use it. Or you'll stand alone. It made me laugh then and it still makes me laugh.

Batman vs Dragonball: Really tough decision. I love Dragonball in all its incarnations but I remember how jaw dropping Batman was when it first hit the airwaves. And when I found out that Mark Hamill was the voice of The Joker I was sold. It was the coolest cartoon on TV at that time.

Cowboy Bebop vs Woody Woodpecker: I loved Woody Woodpecker as a kid. That laugh did it for me. There was also a short that would come on that I think I liked more that Woody's. It was Chilly Willy. Remember him? He was a penguin who was always cold. He was so cute and funny. But Cowboy Bebop blew me away. I was up late in the middle of the night every night watching Cartoon Network trying not to miss it. Cowboy Bebop gets my vote

Ducktales vs The Snorks: I really liked the Snorks. My favorite color is green and that one weird green snork had hair like George Jefferson and he was mute (or at least I thought he was cuz all he made was weird honks and beeps and whistles. He never talked. He was my favorite. I gotta go with The Snorks here.

The Peanuts vs Dungeons and Dragons: I love The Peanuts Gang. All the holiday specials. The strips. I love them. Dungeons and Dragons was one of my favorite cartoons though. I wish I had gotten on a ride and gotten sucked in another dimension where I was a wizard or something. But none of the characters knew how to work their powers so they were always messing up the situation for the team. And there was the one guy who was the know it all who made me want to beat him up. But alas...that's not going to beat The Great Pumpkin or that Christmas tree. The Peanuts get the vote.

X-Men vs Pinky and the Brain: I was in college when X-Men was on the air and I'm not kidding at 4pm in the student center building you could not find a seat near the TV. X-Men was just that serious. X-Men gets my vote.

Animaniacs vs Danger Mouse: I thought I was going to vote for Pinky and the Brain by voting for The Animaniacs but I am voting for Danger Mouse. That is one funny cartoon. Colonel K is my favorite character.

G.I. Joe vs David the Gnome: What the hell is David the Gnome? I only put this in the tournament cuz a few people mentioned it as their favorite. I've never seen it. ... YO JOE!!

Sneak Peek and Cartoon Contest

Jimi Hendrix runs away with the win and heads to The Extravaganza. If you noticed I didn't have any commentary for the finals. That's cuz I was too hungover to type. After a bottle of wine, 2 pitchers of beer and 3 shots of Jack Daniels I received a visit from Eddie From Chicago. That's what I called my hangover cuz it was big and mean. Eddie hung out with me all day. I was ready for him to leave but you know how you have those guests who just seem like they will never leave you to have some peace and quiet? Well that was Eddie. About 7pm Eddie made me throw up and feeling like mission accomplished he started gathering up his things to leave.
Hangovers in general suck. The headaches, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity. But you know what the absolute worst part of yesterday's hangover was for me? I had Steely Dan's Ricky Don't Lose That Number stuck in my head the whole time.
Geez.

Wow. Some big upsets in the last round. Eric Clapton goes down. Duane Allman goes down. Carlos Santana goes down. Makes for a great Elite Eight. Let's Go!

Jimi Hendrix vs Les Paul: You had a good run Les Paul but I have to give this one to Hendrix. He doesn't play one of your guitars.

Jimmy Page vs Robert Johnson: I got stuck listening to the radio at work yesterday. It was on Q106, Macon's so called Rock station. Most people agree the station is terrible but it was "2 For Tuesdays" and in the time I was listening I heard 6 Led Zeppelin songs. I was paying attention to Jimmy Page since we were doing this tournament and I had forgotten that yeah I did like Jimmy Page. So Jimmy Page gets my vote courtesy of Q106.

Bo Diddley vs Jeff Beck: I really like Bo Diddley. A lot. I decided if I could live any musician's career it would either be him or Dr. John. But in this situation I wonder if Jeff Beck may truly be the better guitar player. I think I am going with Jeff Beck on this one.

B. B. King vs George Harrison: B. B. King. No doubt. Does anyone else see this shaping up to be Jimi Hendrix vs B.B. King in the finals?

Sometimes I think you people vote against me just to piss me off. Now I sat there and told you all that Steve Cropper was my all time favorite guitarist and what did you do? You voted against him. THIS IS THE GUY BEHIND SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY!! There was only one...uno... 1 upset in the whole first round and it was Prince beating Steve Cropper! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Did Old Pickle Head have something to do with this?

Well anyway. Let's talk about today's matches. Things are heating up.

Jimi Hendrix vs Buddy Guy: Tough one. These two were playing around the same time. Buddy Guy was probably as much a showman as Hendrix but Hendrix took the sounds to a new universe. Gotta go with Hendrix.

Chuck Berry vs Les Paul: Oh boy. Chuck Berry and Les Paul are also from the same era of playing. And that whole having a type of guitar named after you really gets me. But that's not all there is to Les Paul he was innovative as hell. Have you ever heard him play from back in the day? Take a look at this. Les Paul was on some shit. I think I am voting for Les Paul.

Jimmy Page vs Wes Montgomery: We all know Jimmy Page. The guitar from Led Zeppelin. And no doubt that Page is one of the best but take a good listen t0 Wes Montgomery. The clarity of each note. The way it sounds as if the guitar is trying to talk but just can't quite form words. That's the genius behind Wes Montgomery. I 've got to go with Wes Montgomery.

Duane Allman vs Robert Johnson: This is Obi Wan vs Darth Vader. The student vs the master. Robert Johnson's playing is amazing. You would think two people are playing at the same time. Makes you wonder what he would have done with an electric guitar. Duane Allman was one of the absolute best guitar players of all time. We all know that. Now the question for me becomes could Duane Allman have become what he was if there had been no Robert Johnson? Probably not. If Robert Johnson had access to the technology would he have played better than Duane? Who knows. Take a pick Roger... Wow. I think I will go with... Duane Allman. Only because since I am living in Macon I am more familiar with his music.

Stevie Ray Vaughn vs Jeff Beck: Yeah I know Stevie Ray Vaughn is great but I can't say I like him. I mean that whenever I hear Stevie Ray Vaughn it is a song that someone else made famous. Now when I hear him playing something I am not familiar with, I love it. But most of the time he seems to be in second place. Now Jeff Beck just blows me away every time I hear him. Even if it is just a little cameo solo like this. I love that!! I'm going with Jeff Beck.

Carlos Santana vs Bo Diddley: Carlos Santana gets a bad rap because of that album he put out with all those cameos on it. You couldn't escape it. But there are some absolutely amazing songs out there from Santana that you never hear. Now, Bo Diddley. Bo Diddley played a rectangular guitar. There is a rhythm called "The Bo Diddley Beat"(for the record let me say the guy playing the maracas had to have been tired when they finished that song) . And I swear Bo Diddley was one of the coolest men ever to live. I'm going with Bo Diddley on this.

Eric Clapton vs George Harrison: I'm never sure of how much I like Eric Clapton. I'm always second guessing him. I don't think it is his fault. I really think all of his fans who think he's the world's greatest guitar player need to just calm down a bit and maybe I would agree. Maybe. That said, I just like George Harrison. He gets my vote.

B, B, King vs Prince: Sorry Prince. You are going down. That's what you get for beating Steve Cropper. B. B. King is the most powerful guitarist I've ever heard. One note at a time he makes you understand the feeling and meaning of the song. His guitar playing hits you like a person who is telling you something very important. You have to pay close attention. When he says "The thrill is gone," the guitar is right there explaining how it happened.

Yeah, I know I am late with this one, but this bracket was tougher to do than the Liquor bracket. There are so many great guitarists out there. I mean look at some of the seeds. Prince and Ben harper gets a 7? Jack White gets an 8? There are no Mr. Bostons in this tournament. Let's talk about some of the matches

Eric Clapton vs Jack White: This is the match where you are most likely to see a #1 go down. I hear a lot of music lovers argue that Eric Clapton is a great guitarist and I hear just as many say he is overrated. Jack White is from Detroit. That should be all I have to say but this is the man behind the White Stripes. The guy is good. What's all this talk about a Jack White and Jay-Z collabo? Well whatever, my vote is going with Jack White.

Buddy Guy vs Brian May: Tough one. I remember when I first thought of this as a tournament I was listening to a lot of Queen and really realizing how good of a guitarist Brian May is. So you can say this tournament exists because of him. Well I didn't foresee him up against Buddy Guy in the first round. Buddy Guy plays a polka dot guitar. That's pimp in a way I have not reached yet. Sorry Brian May. I've gotta go with Buddy Guy on this one. He's one of the most important Blues players still alive.

Les Paul vs Eddie Hazel: MUTHAFUCKER!! Look at this mess. I LOVE Eddie Hazel. He's the guitar player from Funkadelic. Listen to this. That's Eddie Hazel on guitar. That muthafucka is bad right? But how do you compete with Les Paul? He has a type of guitar named after him. I mean hell most of the people on this list probably play a Les Paul. My vote goes to Eddie Hazel but I think Les Paul will win this.

Wes Montgomery vs John McLaughlin: This is about one of the most evenly matched of all of the first round match ups. Both brilliant guitarists. Wes Montgomery is my favorite Jazz guitarist. Listen to what he does to The Beatles "A Day In The Life" Well John McLaughlin is a true experimental jazz lover's guitarist. From his early days to his electric Mahavishnu Orchestra days. Awesome work but I'm going with Wes Montgomery on this one.

Duane Allman vs Ben Harper: Love this match up. The young guys have to work if they want to move on in this tournament. They have to beat some of the best old heads. And this match up is surely one where the master meets the student. Both of these guys are mean on the slide. But my vote goes to Duane Allman. You can't beat the old school no matter how good you are.

Steve Cropper vs Prince: In my world Steve Cropper wins all of his matches to make it to the finals vs Jimi Hendrix and then I have to commit suicide rather than choose between the two. That saying some shit cuz you all know how much I love Prince. Steve Cropper (in case you don't know who he is) is the guitar player from Booker T. and The MGs. He is the guitarist who plays on Soul Man (listen close you'll hear Sam say "Play it Steve". Steve Cropper played with Otis Redding and was the producer of "Dock Of The Bay". To put it simple he is the man. Sorry Prince.

George Harrison vs Al Di Meola: We all know George Harrison was the experimenter in The Beatles. He was the driving force behind taking them to new places. He's so good of a guitarists he gets over looked all the time. But for all you people who think playing a lot of notes fast is how you define a great guitarist, you've probably never even heard of Al Di Meola. Fast playing. Lots of notes. And Spanish guitar? Oh yeah. Al Di Meola will put it on you. Sorry George. You're getting over looked once again.

The Finals are here. It's our first finals match in a long time. And it's a doozie. A #1 vs a #8. You ready? Let's go!

Grey Goose vs Bailey's: I want to cuss at one of these liquors. Amber "Pickle Head" Whitley enlisted the help of every vodka drinker on earth seems like to get a win. Well in true Dan "Bitter As Hell" Zook fashion, I'm going to vote just out of spite. I'm going with Bailey's. (If you have no clue what I am talking about you need to join the fun on Facebook. Look up and join the Roger Riddle's Coffee Cake Extravaganza group.)

Angel "This Girl" Collins has won the NCAA Tournament contest. She will get a free T-shirt. She was the only person to email me a bracket so I am sure she will end up with the most points. Congratulations Angel and good luck with your brackets in the tournament. Mine are screwed already thanks to all the ridiculous upsets.

Bombay vs Bailey's: Jack Daniels doesn't consider itself a bourbon. It is a sour mash whiskey produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee. No one know for sure what The Old No. 7 on a bottle of Jack Daniel's stands for there are many good theories but the truth is a mystery that died with Jack...

Liquor - Round 3 (The Elite Eight)

The Elite 8 is always my favorite round on Coffee Cake. Look at these matches today. Jack vs Crown? Patron vs Bombay? Amazing. Who's headed to the Final Four?

Jack Daniel's vs Crown Royal: I drank some Crown Royal last night. It was a tribute. Like drinking with a buddy who's about to have a vasectomy. It's like celebrating winning the tournament play in game. You pat Arkansas - Pine Bluff on the back and say good job but in the back of your mind you say now you're gonna lose to Duke. Jack Daniel's gets my vote.

Grey Goose vs Bacardi: Let me tell you about one of my favorite drinks when I need to switch up from my usual Jack and Ginger. It is called a New Orleans Rum Buck. It is a shot of rum, a splash of OJ, a splash of lime juice, ginger ale and shaken and served over ice. I ask for Bacardi. I have no Grey Goose cocktails. Goose is going down like it's been shot during hunting season.

Patron vs Bombay: I had a couple of Bombay drinkers sitting at the bar last night. I got tipped off them. The one Patron drink I made yesterday was a Patron and Red Bull and the customer who ordered it walked off and didn't pay the server I made it for. Now tell me something Mr. Patron...How am I supposed to get paid when your drinkers do shit like that? Huh? I think you need to quit focusing on being the drink of pop star rappers and focus on getting the bartender paid. Until you get your act together my vote goes to Bombay.
Bombay, you're classy. You go in Martinis. Keep up the good work.

I'm watching you Patron.

Glenlivet vs Bailey's: This is a tough one for me. I didn't realize how much I like Bailey's until this tournament. Nothing to me says "I got it going on," better than being well dressed with your neck tie slightly undone and two fingers of Glenlivet in a rocks glass so heavy that when you sit it down to adjust your pinky ring you are afraid it might cause the table you place it on to collapse. But let's be honest. I don't own a rocks glass that heavy... .. ... yet. There is something respectable about Bailey's even though it is a sweet drink. And most times when I have it, it is a secondary mixer in a drink but still. My vote goes to the Cinderella. Bailey's.

Coffee Cake's NCAA Tournament Contest

I'm sure you all have figured out that in order for me to be doing Coffee Cake I must be a big fan of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. It is true. That's my bracket up there. Say what you want but I think Baylor is going to beat Duke in the Elite 8. But that's just me. What better way to celebrate one of my favorite sports championships than with a contest.
Here's what you have to do. Fill out a bracket. Email it to me in JPEG format before 10pm Wednesday and you are in.
Now, how to win. Get the most points. Liquor - Round 2

You can't tell me you aren't excited abut this round. Every one of these match ups are solid. Let's take a look.

Jack Daniel's vs Jim Beam: For me this is the big daddy match up. If you have ever heard any of the stories of Roger and Amanda (and/or Jeff Payne) it usually involves Jack Daniel's. In fact let me share one of them with you. Amanda, Jeff and I stayed out all night drinking and when I say all night I mean when we finally decided to go home the sun was up there in the sky. Normally that's the type of thing that drunks hate. Not us. Jeff said, "Let's go get some Waffle House." And of course I went along for the ride. So, it's about 7am and we are riding up Spring St in Macon which is one of the main roads leading into downtown Macon. We stop at a red light when this guy in a motorized wheelchair rolls out into the middle of the intersection and begins to have a crack attack. He starts shaking like he's about to fall out the chair. Then he pulls off his hat, stretches his arm straight up in the air with hat in hand, and then slams the hat on the ground. Then his hand hits the little stick on the wheel chair and he begins spinning in circles in the middle of the intersection. Yes, the muthafucka is doing doughnuts in a motorized wheelchair. So I am sitting there absolutely amazed at what I am seeing when all of a sudden Jeff says, "Well we can't have that," and begins to drive his giant Chevy Silverado pickup truck in circles around the guy spinning in circles in the middle of the intersection. Jeff leans out the window and starts yelling at the guy, "Hey! What the hell is your problem? You on drugs or something? Get out the damn street!!" At this point I was thinking to myself, "We are definitely going to jail this morning." Surprisingly, not one other car passed us during this whole ordeal. But yeah that was a Jack Daniel's night. And I've got plenty more stories like that while drinking Jack Daniel's. Needless to say, you know where my vote is going.

Crown Royal vs Jameson: While I intend to drink some Jameson this Wednesday, there was a time early in my drinking career when I loved my Crown Royal. And who doesn't love those little purple bags? I keep my wine cork and beer bottle cap collections in them. Plus Crown Royal and Coke smells so good! Crown Royal gets my vote.

Grey Goose vs Ketel One: I know Terrell Sandefur is sitting somewhere watching this match up and plotting on how to put Grey Goose over the edge if it gets in trouble. But I'm voting for Ketel. I've had many a good times serving Ketel to Dirt Dog.

Captain Morgan vs Bacardi: Wow. Tough one. Bacardi was my mom's drink. So I've tried it a plenty and it is usually my go to rum when there is nothing special around. But The Captain goes so well in Egg Nog and Hot Spiced Cider. I'm voting Captain. Speaking on Captain Morgan I dated this girl who went out a bought a bottle of some cheap knock off Captain Morgan. It was called Admiral Nelson. Funny stuff.

Patron vs 1800: As I am typing this Patron is winning this match 11 - 0. I didn't see that coming. I thought 1800 would give Patron a run. But yeah I've heard T-Pain before. Patron gets my vote too.

Bombay vs Tanqueray: Bombay. The Sapphire bottle is so pretty. Plus Tanqueray hurts me. I get a head ache before I get drunk.

Bailey's vs Kahlua: I know this is going to sound weird but every now and then I like to sip a Bailey's on the rocks. It's like drinking dessert. Kahlua I like over ice cream. But I gotta go with Bailey's

Hennessy vs Glenlivet: Fact: 80% of the total Cognac sells in the U.S. are attributed to black folks. So just to fuck up the curve on that statistic, I am voting for Glenlivet. Honestly, one of my favorite things about the fall is drinking scotch. (P.S. my Cognac of choice is Remy Martin V.S.O.P. ... sorry Hennessy.)

Well Coffee Cakers, it sure is good to be back. Here we are on our first tournament and of course the tournament is Liquor, something a lot of Coffee Cakers know about. Before we get into this week tournament let's clear up some questions on how this will work.

We are going to keep pushing along on the list of tournaments from last time. So if you search the archive for The Extravaganza Bracket (and I will repost it sometime this week), you can see what we have done already and what is coming up. Next week we will do Guitar Players. I know we never finished movies, so we will make up that tournament in a few weeks once we are good and rolling again. This time I will be sure to get all of your input on what movies to put in the brackets so you all won't try to hang me like last time. Thanks for sticking around though all my madness. Now I will admit that my seeding for this tournament wasn't as strong as it has been in the past the reason for this is so we could see some awesome match ups other than in a final or semi-final.

As usual the #1 seeds are mostly easy picks for winners. Jack Daniel's, Grey Goose, and Patron should be easy wins. But I think I really might have flubbed on Moonshine. I thought more people liked it. Moonshine is in probably the toughest division and it wasn't really fair to give Bailey's the #8 seed but that's all that was left. As I am typing this Bailey's is handing out an ass whooping like a mother with a bunch of bad children. I voted for Moonshine but I think we are going to see an upset.

Hennessy vs Courvoisier: Really tough one. I went with Hennessy on this one just cuz I've drank more of it. I'm not a Cognac pro so I can't wax poetic on the differences. But I know V.S. gets me drunk. V.S.O.P. means it tastes better. And X.O. means I can't afford it. As I was putting this bracket together I looked up a few things on Hennessy and found out that there are two Hennessys past X.O. The top one is $4000 a bottle. If I ever happen to get my hands on a bottle of that and I catch one of my friends drinking out of it, that friendship will come to a swift end.

Glenlivet vs Johnny Walker: I'm all about Glenlivet. Back in my computer programming days me and my friend Kevin, who was a tech, used to hang out with a bunch of engineers. They got me hooked on single malt scotches and cigars. Up til that point my idea of scotch was J&B. That was my dad's drink. Needless to say I didn't like it. I like Johnny Walker Blue but that's the top of the line Johnny. You can drink the cheaper Glenlivet and it still be good. Glenlivet gets the vote.

Grand Marnier vs Kahlua: I am shocked at how Kahlua jumped out in front on this one. So many people in Macon drink Grand Marnier that I thought it would be a romp in the other direction. I voted for Kahlua. Grand Marnier is just too sweet and orangey for me. It taste like something went wrong with a Starburst.

Tanqueray vs Hendrick's: I'm liking this match. I'm pulling for Hendrick's. Hendrick's has a curious little taste that reminds you of cucumbers. Tanqueray gives me a headache and I will admit that I have not tried the Tanqueray 10 but my money is on Hendricks to see a come back.

Jose Cuervo vs 1800: Another good match. I went with Jose on this one. 1800 is definitely smoother but Jose is an old stand by. Can't go wrong with it. But then again I don't drink much tequila. Shit makes me mad. And you know how ridiculous it is to see me mad. I'm such a nice guy that people usually giggle when they see me mad. Which makes me madder. And they laugh harder. It's messed up.

Captain Morgan vs Malibu: Don't you kinda sigh, roll your eyes and suppress a giggle anytime you see a man order a Malibu and Pineapple? Now don't get me wrong I like a Pina Colada with a cherrya nd a little umbrella in it as much as the next guy. I can't drink whiskey and wear camouflage every day. But when I'm wearing my Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt, loafers with dress socks pull up to my knees and a straw hat, I have to have a little 151 or something in my Malibu Pina Colada. Captain Morgan has recently been killing it with their commercials. My favorite is The Holiday Miracle with the lime. Captain Morgan gets the vote.

Ketel One vs Absolut: I love Absolut's print ads. They are art. I even have an Absolut bottle that someone gave me that is made to look like a disco ball. Absolut knows how to promote ots product. But ever since DJ Dirt Dog came into my life I have been a fan of the Ketel One. It's just so smooth. This is going to be a tough match and a lot of fun to watch I've seen the lead change twice since the voting started on Sunday so keep an eye on this one.

Let's be honest we are all looking forward to tomorrow where we will most likely see a Jack Daniel's vs Jim Beam match. Can't wait! See you then.

First and foremost Star Wars WILL beat The Godfather. Han Solo would make short work of Don Corleone. That wouldn't be the first time he had a big time mobster after him. Remeber Jabba the Hut?

I don't care how tough Rocky was. He can call himself the Italian Stallion all he wants. He is not a horse he is a short little man. Simba is a real animal. Well he's animated but still he was a fucking lion. And doesn't the name Simba sound like someone who would fight in the UFC? Hakuna Matata? Oh no Rocky. Be worried. Be worried.

So, Dorothy...what's worse? Being captured by some green bitch or sharing a cell with Bertha? Tough one isn't it? So...Andy Dufresne. Why didn't you have a picture of Judy Garland on your wall? She was hot too. What? You too good? Yeah, the other side of that poster wasn't exactly Oz but while you were in prison you had a scarecrow (Red) a heartless tin man (Warden Norton) and a cowardly lion (Brooks). I don't remeber you ever getting high off poppies but that was a very creepy scene anyway and you had enough awkward moments on your own. Good luck buddy.

Ok look. The funniest thing about this match-up is in one film the bad guy is a demon. You know, a straight up, straight from hell for one engagement only demon. That's the scary shit. The bad guy in the other movie is Jesus...in a purple jumpsuit...licking a bowling ball!! THAT SHIT IS REALLY SCARY!!

Movies - Round 1

So I gave round 1 an extra day of voting because I know a lot of people do Coffee Cake at work and many of us had Monday off from work. Not me however, I was still slinging drinks at BJ's.

So let's look at some of the matches.
The #1s will all easily move on. But the #8s are all some of my favorites. Plan 9 From Outer Space is considered by most to be the worst movie ever made. The Five Deadly Venoms is my all time favorite Kung-Fu movie. The Shaw Brothers really put it down on this one. The Warriors is another cult movie that I love as I am always making references on Coffee Cake to Sirus's speech at the beginning of the movie. And Attack of the Killer Tomatoes...come on. That name speaks for itself.

Rocky vs Psycho - What if these two movies were combined. Do you think Norman Bates would have sliced up Balboa or do you think Rocky would have whooped up on him? Maybe Rocky was using the Bates motel as a training facility and the shower scene would have had Adrian in it. She would have just passed out when she saw Norman Bates and drowned. He never would have needed the knife.

Continuing on the if these movies were combined theme if Star Wars and Plan 9 were combined it would be called Episodes I, II, and III.

Grease vs Breakfast At Tiffany's - I have a big ol' soft spot for Grease. I saw it back when it was originally released in New York City as a Double Feature with Star Wars. I was no older than 3 but it stuck with me. So if Grease were combined with Breakfast At Tiffany's, the high school romance never happened and Sandra Dee grew up to become Holly Golightly. Living the good live. Danny Zucko was working in a garage and one day he would decide to pursue the woman who is now way out of his league. To explain his feelings he would sing Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl".

Raiders of the Lost Ark vs The Goonies - If these two were combined wouldn't it be called Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom?

Silence of the Lambs vs Amelie - That creepy guy that sat in the corner of the cafe stalking the waitress would turn out to be a serial killer. However since the movie would be in French it would be the most romantic murders ever seen.

The Godfather vs Rocky Horror - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Can't you just see Marlon Brando in fishnet stockings and platform heels? So the Don of the mob is a cross-dresser. Jesus that would be a good movie. Somebody please make this spoof.

Full Metal Jacket vs The Big Lebowski - This would be a boring film if the two combined. The Dude would be Private Pyle. And after getting yelled at in boot camp the Dude would say fuck this and go AWOL to never be seen again.

Forrest Gump vs Pee-Wee's Big Adventure - Oddly, don't you think if these two combined it would still be Forrest Gump? He'd just have a really odd laugh. And there would be a dance scene. But everything else would stay pretty much the same.

Stand By Me vs Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory - The kids would find a dead body in the factory and we would learn that Willy Wonka was the creepy mass murderer that we always suspected he was.

Right off the bat let me ask you all something. Where the hell is Meansville, Georgia? Someone comes to Coffee Cake everyday from Meansville and I have to say based on the name it is not high on my list of places to visit. Someone please tell me that Meansville is actually a pleasant place.

Here's another question for you all. What are some of your favorite charities? Let's throw some light on the places we think are good for our community. I've already mentioned that I am a big fan of the 826 programs, and I also love Macon's Children's Museum. Where do you donate your time and/or dollars?

Now, on to the tournament.

Martin Luther King, Jr. vs Gloria Steinem - Poor Gloria Steinem. She beat a hearty sea mn in the 1st round only to have to go up against the mack daddy of humanitarians in the 2nd round. Gloria Steinem has been at the forefront of women's rights and equality movements since the 60s and normally when you've done as much work as she has to make the world a better place you've got it made. But in this case, Martin Luther the King sits at the right hand of Jesus in heaven. Like I said, poor Gloria Steinem.

Nelson Mandela vs Princess Diana - I'm sure we are all familiar with the work Nelson Mandela has done so let's look at Princess Di. Diana was a busy woman. She played a huge role in changing the way people thought about AIDS and HIV patients, being the first celebrity to be photographed touching an HIV patient. Diana was view by so many as almost a living saint that "hell if she can touch a person with HIV, I sure as hell can too," must have been what people thought when they saw that picture. She played a huge role in The International Campaign To Ban Landmines which went on to win a Nobel Peace Prize after her death. At the little bit I mentioned here didn't even scratch the surface. Princess Diana was truly a lady. Does she have what it takes to get past Mandela? That's up to you.

Mother Teresa vs Elie Weisel - You know how every now and then we have a match up that makes you say, "Oooooo...that ain't fair." That's how I feel about this one. I was introduced to Elie Weisel not long ago by my buddy Kelly. She bought me a copy of his book, "Night". I started reading it and read it all in one day. Night is his story of holocaust survival. He made it through all of the worst of the holocaust. Lost his entire family. It was a gut wrenching and even moreso, a mind bending thing to read. You start saying, "How can anyone be so cruel." The work that Elie Weisel has done to make all people equal is beyond compare. Mother Teresa we all know about her work with the poor and the sick, disadvantaged children and many others. No one more deserves the title Mother more than her. This is a tough pick.

Our buddy Nat said it best. It's almost unfair when we do more serious tournaments. I agree I get to cut loose when I don't have to worry about stepping on anyone's toes. And to be honest we are all still learning how this website works. This is our 11th tournament. So we have only been doing these for two and a half months.
I know, crazy right? Seems like so much longer. And as much as I love to get silly, sometimes I admit I use this to throw light on things that I love and this is one of those tournaments. This was really supposed to come after a Porn Stars tournament. I was going to use Humanitarians as a way of redeeming myself for being so nasty. However, once the number of readers started growing, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So we did cereal instead, which turned out to be much more fun than Porn Stars could have ever been.

So how to handle Humanitarians and Activists. I think it's funny that most of the people on this list are there for their non-violence stance so it would be funny if they actually came to fisticuffs. I am gonna do a little bit of "What if they did really fight." And I'm also gonna shed some light on the great work they've done.

Ready? Let's do it.

Martin Luther King vs Angelina Jolie - What would it take for Dr. King to get mad enough to punch Angelina Jolie in the face? What if she tried to do a hostile takeover on one of his children. 'I'M ADOPTING YOUR KIDS AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT DR. KING!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Yeah I bet he'd go fucking nuts on her then. Don't mess with a man's family. And I bet Dr. King would be the type of fighter who would talk while he whooped your ass. Imagine getting a speech on why what you are doing is wrong in Dr. King's voice while getting beat down. Bet you won't do that again. Really though, we all know what Dr. King has done but did you know that Angelina Jolie is a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador? We make fun of her super baby adopting abilities but she is out there making a difference in the world. Keep on girl. Do ya thing.

Mother Teresa vs Al Gore - Al Gore would be all cocky like, "I'ma beat this old lady's ass. Where's my agent? Can't you all set me up some better fights?" Then he'd punch her a couple of times and be all confident that the match is in the bag when all of a sudden she'd start glowing. That's right. Mama T is a saint! She's got the power of the heavenly hosts backing her up. Boom. Al didn't know what hit him. They'd be picking him up off the mat and waving the smelling salts in front of his face. He'd be coming to saying shit like, "I bet y'all didn't know you could change the language on Facebook to English (Pirate) did you? I created that. In fact I created Facebook... And Twitter." On the real though, since Al Gore has gotten out of office he has been active on environmental issues and is doing what he can to promote clean, renewable energy.

Mahatma Gandhi vs Audrey Hepburn - I actually think that Audrey Hepburn would beat Gandhi in a fight. I can just imagine Audrey Hepburn spazzing out and flailing all her limbs, kicking and hitting Gandhi with her purse. I see Gandhi just laying down and curling up in the fetal position. Then Hepburn would say, "Take that daaahling." And then she'd light a cigarette. That doesn't mean I'm voting for Audrey Hepburn. That'd just be ridiculous. I do have to give it up for Hepburn though because she was a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, helping put in place programs in countries all over the world that would make better living conditions for children.

Susan B. Anthony vs Bill and Melinda Gates -I don't imagine Bill and Melinda Gates can fight. Susan B. Anthony came up in an era when people just had to be a bit tougher than we are today just to survive. I mean look at her. That woman can beat my ass. I'm sure she could put an ass whooping on some geek and his wife. Well...that is until Bill Gates reaches into his utility belt and pulls out some great fighting gadgets that renders Suzie B. unconscious. Think about it, Bill Gates has got to have the world's greatest gadgets. And you know he can't fight! Of course he's gonna have some gadgets for self defense. But all that aside, I'm voting for Susan B. Anthony. However, if you don't know about the great work the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is doing, you need to take a look.

Nelson Mandela vs Jane Goodall - In a physical match up this just doesn't seem fair at all. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison under horrible conditions. That makes you tough. Jane Goodall spent her time in the jungle charming animals. That makes you...something. I don't really think it makes you tough. In a fist fight my money is definitely on Mandela. And my vote in this match goes to Mandela. That he spent 27 years in prison on some trumped up political charges and came out still as driven and compassionate as he did is a testament to the will of humankind. That is spirit everyone of us could use a daily does of. Now don't get me wrong Jane Goodall does some great work in the way of animal rights. Really what better spokesperson for animal rights can you have than her. And her Roots and Shoots organization is a beautiful group that gets children involved in making the world a better place. But I am sorry my friend. Mandel gets my vote on this one.

Jimmy Carter vs Eleanor Roosevelt - I think this match would come to a draw in a physical fight. I have just never viewed Jimmy Carter as a fighter and Eleanor Roosevelt just doesn't seem like the type to throw a punch. I think these two would play the dozens. "Jimmy, you are so country, your school fight song was Dueling Banjos."
"Eleanor, you so ugly when we played peek-a-boo first you peeked and then I boooed. I could talk about yer ugly ass all night."
"Well, there is no end to the country I have lined up for your backside."
It could go on for days.
But on the real these two people should be put in the Humanitarian Hall of Fame. Eleanor Roosevelt could have just sat back and lived the social life of a politician's wife but she got out there and worked with the Women's Trade Union League and was instrumental in helping them raise funds for the abolition of child labor,. SHe helped them get a set minimum wage. Once she got in the White House she was very out spoken on civil rights and even set up a concert on the step of The Lincoln Memorial for Marian Anderson when she was denied the opportunity to sing at Constitution Hall. Jimmy Carter's work with Habitat for Humanity speaks for itself. Think about not having a place to live. Then think about the pride that comes with owning a home and even more so the pride you get from saying, "I built this muthafucka with my bare hands." That's not just putting a person in a home, that's making them a better person. My vote goes to Jimmy Carter because he's a Georgia boy but I think both of these people are phenomenal individuals.

The Dalai Lama vs Oprah Winfrey - This could be an interesting fight right off hand I would say Oprah would kick the Dalai Lama's butt. She grew up poor and now lives in Chicago. That sounds like a tough woman to me. But I can see the Dalai Lama very gracefully shifting to s kung-fu stance and with very little effort having her down on the ground and immobilized without actually hurting her. Then he would smile, bow and thank her for her time. That's the kind of guy he is. He'd say, "Thank you for letting me whoop your ass," and then he'd go on about climbing a mountain so he could meditate on top. The Dalai Lama has been promoting peace and unity and coming together like no other. There has been a lot of controversy around him but there is no doubt that this man would rather see you smile that see you in pain so he teaches a doctrine that would put more people at ease. Gotta love it. We know Oprah is one of the most generous people on this planet. And with the power she holds...whoa that's a good thing. Oprah's Angel Network and Free The Children program help to make the world a better place for children here at home and abroad through building schools and educational programs, making sure the children have clean clothes and drinking water. Right on Oprah. You get my vote.

Norman Borlaug vs Dave Eggers - Dave Eggers is kind of a tough looking guy. He's not what you would expect from a writer. My first instinct is to say that someone with a name like Borlaug would make mayonnaise out of a write named eggers but I actually think Eggers may do the whipping here. (How many people got that joke?) Man, Norman Borlaug is the man. He has won the Nobel Peace Prize, The Presidential Medal of Freedom and The Congressional Gold Medal. That guy was putting in some work to do all of that. I haven't even won a pat on the back lately. His research into making sure there is enough food for everybody on Mother Earth is what gained him all of these accolades. Dave Eggers created my favorite organization. 826. 826 is a writing group for children that teaches them good solid writing skills and gets them published at a young age. Talk about building confidence in kids! One of the coolest parts of 826 is the buildings they hold the work shops in. The 826 in my home state of Michigan is headed up by the wonderful Amanda Uhle. The store front says "Robot Supply Company". You go in and there is all of these robot parts hanging on the walls. Then you hit the hidden door and BOOM you're in the room where the workshop takes place! Why wasn't there something like this for me when I was little? Some of the other places are Monster supply, Pirate supply. It's great. Dave Eggers gets my vote.

So once again you guys prove that I have no idea what I am talking about. I don't know if you know this but this is my website. Look at the top of the page. What does it say? Roger Riddle's. That's possessive. I swear you people are on somebody's Facebook page that I can't see saying, "He's voting for Rice Krispies. Let's all vote against him."

Couple of things I want to say before we get started on this final match up of the week.

I want to say thanks to Gary and Carla Schechterle of Lemongrass Thai Bistro. They brought me a Coffee Cake! It was a fantastic moment for me. They walked into my bar while I was working and Carla sits down with a bag. I jokingly said, "Is this for me?" and she said yes. I open it up and there is a wonder sour cream coffee cake!! Thanks again guys and dinner was delicious last night. I did everything put lick the plate when I got done.

Apparently most of you feel that since Cap'n Crunch causes a little mouth damage that you are too good to eat it. *In mocking childish voice* "This cereal cuts the roof of my mouth"..."This cereal makes my gums bleed." Waaa Waaa Waaa...Baby Cry Real Tears. Every little girl wants one for Christmas this year. SO WHAT! I won't stand for no sass in my house!! I bought that cereal and you're gonna eat it. I'd tell my kids that when I was a child and eating Cap'n Crunch I loved it bleeding mouth and all because what's a little cut in the mouth when the alternative was eating a steak that would bust out your stomach and eat your best friend. Eating food was dangerous when I was a kid. Little brats should be thankful for the technological advancements made in food since I was little.
See...that shit would scare them, they'd eat the Cap'n Crunch and they would become vegetarians. You know how much money I would save not having to buy meat?

Anyway...moving on to something that doesn't make me sound slightly insane...

Cheerios vs Froot Loops - I think you have come to the end of the line Toucan Sam. You had a good run and an appearance in the Final Four is something to be proud of. But Cheerios are gonna get nutritious all over that ass. Watch me what I say now.

Rice Krispies vs Frosted Flakes - Normally a three on one fight is just unfair and I am on the side of the disadvantaged. However, in this case Tony the Tiger is a walking, talking, IN SHAPE LIKE A MUTHAFUCKA....tiger. So not only is this cat musclebound he's a fucking tiger. And look at that name. If you ever got into a confrontation with some real life guy named Tony the Tiger you've been living your life wrong. The Mafia is after you. Now how are three little Tom Thumb muthafuckas supposed to compete with that? Their names are Snap, Crackle, and Pop. If this were a battle of the mascots I'd pick Tony the Tiger. THEY'RE GRRRRREAT!! (Just wanted to say that) But this is about the cereal. Rice Krispies always fascinated me. The noise they make just blew me away as a kid. And I still like Rice Krispies to this day. Rice Krispies vs Apple Jacks - There is no doubt in my mind that if I sat down at a table and these two boxes were in front of me that I would choose the Rice Krispies. All I would need is a little bit of sugar, some milk and some toast and I would be a happy man.

Frosted Flakes vs Raisin Bran - Tough one for me. I love Frosted Flakes but man Raisin Bran was my shit! I know this is gonna be weird but I loved to let my Raisin Bran get soggy. I would pull my milk and let it sit. I think Raisin Bran was the only cereal that I didn't like crunchy. I think I will go with Raisin Bran on this one.

Cheerios vs Fruity Pebbles - Ok...Cheerios float. You can't sink them. No matter how hard you try. Fruity Pebbles has the best tasting cereal milk. What to do what to do. I pick the Cheerios.

Cap'n Crunch vs Froot Loops - My two childhood favorites facing off. I gotta go with the Cap'n Crunch though. I still remember that submarine I got out of the cereal box that time. You put baking powder in it and fill up the sink and the thing would rise and dive. It was so cool.

Well, I think you people really dislike me sometimes. Hey. How you doin'? I'm Roger Riddle I thought we'd met before. In fact I thought we were friends but I can tell by the fact that you assholes voted for Kix over Wheaties that we are not. Fine.

When you see me out in public and I turn my head and ignore you don't say nothing.
The worst part of it is my girl Priscilla from The Fabulous SoChi Life was the ring leader in this whole Kix over Wheaties thing. And to think I went out last night to Lemongrass to hang out with her and Terrell Sandefur last night at the unveiling of their signature drinks. Won't make that mistake again. Well, I will go back and drink your drinks. I'm not gonna hold what you did to me against the drinks, Priscilla.

Let's get down to business.

Corn Flakes vs Apple Jacks - Last night a debate broke out around the drinking table as Billy Dale Raye Hamlin, Jr. tried to defend the virtues of Apple Jacks to Amanda. She wasn't having it. (She and Kara also tried to tell me that I was wrong for having two hot cereals in this tournament. Jokes on you guys! I put them there just cuz I knew it would get under Amanda's skin! SO HA!! Take that! Suckas.) The whole point is that Billy would have Apple Jacks win this match. Ain't no way. Corn Flakes was one of the adult cereals that as a kid you didn't mind eating. They are simple and good. No gimmick needed. Give me a bowl and some milk and a glass of OJ and let me get down to business. I don't even know what the fuck an Apple Jack is. Sounds like something someone would use to mug you. "What happened?" ... "That fucka had an apple jack! He hit me with it and grabbed my wallet." The cereal doesn't taste like apples. How bout Cinnamon Circles? That makes more sense.

Well, Snap Crackle and Pop...need I say more? For once I agree with Amanda on something. She said she loved Rice Krispies. You damn right. You know what I like about Chex? Chex Mix. I don't think I've ever had a bowl of Chex as a cereal. But now throw some peanuts and some melba toast in that shit and I will eat 3 or 4 bowls. I'd embarrass my date at the company Christmas party over some Chex mix. But Rice Krispies is the joint. Sorry Chex.

Frosted Flakes vs Cinnamon Toast Crunch - I'ma tell you the deal. Tony The Tiger is the best cereal Mascot. Cinnamon Toast Crunch can't get their mascots together. For a long time they didn't have one. Then they had 3 bakers. Then they fired two of the bakers and only had one. Now they are back to nothing I think. Pull your shit together Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Tony the Tiger is getting kids hyped up about going outside and playing. He is telling kids to earn their stripes!! I'm loving it. Especially after losing Wheaties in round one.

Raisin Bran vs Kix - Fuck Kix.

Cheerios vs Trix - How is it that the company's mascot can't ever get his hands on the product he is supposed to be endorsing? That doesn't make any sense to me. From these commercials all I can say is that I am not a rabbit. I am a kid. Trix are for me. Now that may work if I was a really dumb kid but the first question that pops into my mind is that the person who is selling me this product has never had them and therefore doesn't know if they taste any good. Nah. I'm not buying that. Give me those Cheerios. I've been eating them since I was two. I know I like those. You ever seen babies eating Cheerios? They are little Cheerios eating machines! Now that will sell me in a heartbeat on some cereal. Just show me a commercial of a baby going at it with some on the table in from of 'em. Plus Cheerios lower your blood pressure and your cholesterol. All types of positive stuff happens to your body when you eat Cheerios.

Fruity Pebbles vs Cocoa Puffs- Here is another mascot that does not make me want to buy the product. That bird has obviously lost his mind. He goes over the edge every time he gets even a spoonful of Cocoa Puffs. I don't know what is in those things but I sure as hell didn't plan on going crazy today. I'll pass. Now I will give it to you. Cocoa Puffs does make some really good cereal milk but in this match up, I think Fruity Pebbles makes the better cereal milk. Plus Fred and Barney are more entertaining mascots than a loony bird.

Cap'n Crunch vs Honey Bunches of Oats - As I typed that I felt a great disturbance in the force. It was like a million people suddenly gasped as they realized that they were no longer kids. Yes. The childhood sugar filled favorite vs the new now I'm grown up favorite. What are you gonna do? Bright packaging and great prizes. Sweet goodness and a sensible yet likable mascot vs lighty sweetened healthy yummy goodness!! And come on, you know you like their commercials. They always feature the people who work in their factory. What you gonna do people?

Froot Loops vs Corn Pops - I always seemed to have Froot Loops in my house. I loved this cereal. A good prize, a decent mascot, the cereal tasted good. It was my old stand by. It was to cereal what yuengling has become to me for beer. But corn pops are relatively new to me. I just recently started eating them. I had them as a kid but it was never high on my list to get. I think it was their lack of mascot. And see, their commercials were like the kids were having a nicotine fit. WHERE THE HELL ARE THE FUCKING CORN POPS! I JUST WOKE UP AND YOU KNOW I CAN'T GET STARTED UNTIL I HAVE MY POPS!! GOTTA HAVE MY POPS!
See...no...that's not my style. Toucan Sam sang songs in the trees and flew around. Much more pleasant in the morning. Froot Loops for me please.

Cereal - Round 1

I'm a day late this week with the tournament. Please forgive me. I had another run in with the Irish cop that pulled me over for walking before. This time it was a far worse confrontation. It was late on a Sunday night and I was walking home from Dan Zook's house after picking up the Home Cooked Dishes t-shirt (more news on that later). He had gotten me good and drunk and I was stumbling home. I stopped about 6 houses down from Dan's to pull myself together and a cop car rolls up. The cop jumps out the car and after asking me what I am doing out this time of night and "You're always JUST going home." Like me going home at night is a ridiculous notion. Then he pretty much told me that I had no right to be out on the street at that time of night. So he searched me and lost his shit when he found 10 blue t-shirts with tournament brackets! "What are you doing with so many shirts?" What the hell do you think I am doing with the shirts? You think I just robbed The Gap? That had to have been bewildering to him. You think a guy is robbing a car (again) and you find out he is an entrepreneur with a nice website. Jesus.
Anyway, needless to say I didn't feel like doing anything with Coffee Cake after that. I'm sorry.

So here we are!! A lot of people told me that they were excited about this tournament. Let's see what's up.

I can't see any of the #1s having a problem moving on but the #8s are so darn interesting. Kaboom was a cereal that had marshmallows and had a circus theme. I don't know why they didn't call it something like Big Top. I never quite got the Kaboom thing as a kid. I never really associated cannons with the circus. There are so many other things that come in front of cannon. However, it's mascot was a clown. Creepy looking fucker but a clown no less.
As a kid was there ever a cereal you less wanted to eat than Mueslix? Look this. Shit looks like a bunch of chopped up tree branches in a bowl. You gotta be an adult to eat that.
Fruit Brute is the cereal that always escapes me. It was in the same line with Count Choculate, Frankenberry and Boo-Berry. I always knew there was another one but I could never remember the name. Well here it is. Fruit Brute. He was like a fruit loving werewolf or something. Come to find out there was one more in that line called. Yummy Mummy. Nice name.
Total. Come on... You really like Total? The knock off Corn Flakes?I remember the commercial where you have to eat 7 bowls of something else to get the nutrition in one bowl of Total. Psssht! I'm not eating cereal for the nutrition. I'm trying to get the prize in the box. When was the last time Total have a good prize?

Before I continue on with the matches let me just say I ran across this, while putting this tournament together. And while that is a funny picture it got me to thinking. There are no female cereal mascots are there? What kinda old sexist shit is that? Yeah I mean there is Dora The Explorer cereal but I mean Dora is famous. Dora cereal falls into the same category with Mr. T cereal or Bart Simpson or Reggie Jackson. Well, Reggie Jackson didn't have a cereal. Wish he would have. He did have a candy bar. I used to love those candy bars. So listen up cereal companies cuz I know you're reading this!! I challenge you to make a female mascot for a successful cereal. Come on, it's 2009.

Rice Krispies vs Honey Comb - Snap, Crackle and Pop were my shit back in the day! I remember back in the day Pop wasn't too bright. Then one day they became all cool and Pop had grown into himself. And I loved the cereal cuz it made noise. In any other product that would be a defect. For Rice Krispies it was a selling point. Go figure. I never liked Honey Comb when I was growing up. I tried. But there was always something about it that just didn't work for me. First of all the pieces were too big to me. You got two in your mouth and you had too much in your mouth. They seemed hard thus making them harder to chew. And then they picked up that little furry monster caveman thing that didn't speak good English and they lost me for good. My vote goes to Rice Krispies.

Wheaties vs Kix - I was never a big sports playing person but I loved the idea of being on a box of Wheaties. My feelings were kinda hurt cuz I knew I was never going to make it on a Wheaties box for programming computers. Bruce Jenner was on that bad boy. I remember there being a special box sold in Detroit with the 1984 Tigers team on it. Mary Lou Retton was on it (she's still cute by the way) but never saw any nerds. That's ok, it didn't stop me from loving the cereal. I'd dream I was a bad ass every morning I ate it. I never ate Kix. According to the commercials kids loved it and mothers were happy that they liked it cuz it was good for them. The one thing that stopped me from getting the cereal that all of the kids were apparently loving was that there were no prizes with Kix. Yummy it may have been but that wasn't enough to make me ask for it. My vote goes to Wheaties.

Fruity Pebbles vs Alpha-Bits - Fruity Pebbles was one of those cereals that I really liked but I rarely had it. Most of the time I picked something over Fruity Pebbles which is weird cuz I loved cartoon and Fred Flintstone is the cereal's spokes person. I do have to admit that I never understood why Bareny was being such a dick trying to steal Fred's cereal and why since they were best friends Fred didn't just share. Now Alpha-Bits was fun to me. I used to like to spell words as I ate them, which means it took me a long time to eat a bowl of Alpha-Bits. I wonder how many times my mom rushed me to finish up a bowl of Alpha-Bits before I made us late? I bet that's why she stopped buying it.

I was talking to Vic yesterday and he asked me what happened to the special edition Taco Bell Menu tournament. I told him since my CPU fan died on me I was scared the computer might really give up and I didn't want to start it and not be able to update it. I then jokingly said, "You should see how I am cooling the computer to keep it on. It looks like something from. thereifixedit.com." Then I found this on their website. Now my setup isn't as quite as bad as that. However, it is more like this. I have the window unit air conditioner on and a fan siting in front of it blowing air into the open side of the computer.
Vic said I alternative engineered it. I was a little more crude with my description of how I did it.
Hopefully I will have it fixed later on today. Big Willie from Will Was Thinking is supposed to be bringing me what he called "A Corvette cpu fan." So for all you Taco Bell fans, we will do the launch this coming Monday. Sorry for the wait on that.

Dan Patrick vs The Rest of the Story - Dan Patrick is as good good of a sports news anchor as they come. He is a master of selling a joke with a straight face and I love that kind of humor. The Rest of the Story is classic. What can you say? Paul Harvey had us riveted to the radio every day as we listened to find out who he was telling us about. A true spinner of tales, he had us where we couldn't leave the radio until we heard the shows signature finish, "and know you know, the rest of the story."

American Top 40 w/ Casey Kasem vs Car Talk - I love Car Talk. As much as I love Casey Kasem's voice Car Talk makes me laugh and I learn something useful from it every week. Plus it's about cars. I love cars.

A Prairie Home Companion vs This American Life - This is messed up right here. Two public radio heavy weights squaring off. This American Life makes you want to sit up and do something positive in the world. It's good news. We always complain that there is not enough good news. Well this American Life has it for you. A Prairie Home Companion is just fun. You laugh. You clap your hands. It's what radio used to sound like. This is a tough one for me and to be honest I can't decide yet.

The Dan Patrick Show vs Ed Schultz - Dan Patrick is the man. Nuff said.

The Rest Of The Story vs Coast To Coast AM - Coast To Coast AM has a lot of spunk to have made it this far into the tournament. It's the Cinderella of this tournament. The clock may strike 12 on it with this match. The Rest of The Story put down my favorite to win, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, in the first round and shows no sign of stopping. Wow! Quite a few upsets and two REALLY big ones as Rush Limbaugh gets taken down by a silver bullet with only one vote by The Lone Ranger. And the crazy and twisted Dr. Demento jumps all over Ryan Seacrest. This could make for an interesting 2nd Round. Let's look at todays matches.

Radio Shows - Round 1

I love radio. I probably listened to the radio more as a kid than I watched TV. It was a play land for my imagination, of which I had a plenty. Music, talk shows, comedy, drama you name I was listening. I would lay in bed late at night and mess with the tuner until I found something good. Sometimes you'd pick up stations from states away. I would listen to the pillow talk shows. They had great music and the DJ had a soothing voice (Or at least that's what I thought it was. As I got older I found out that women call that voice sexy). It would put me to sleep. I used to listen to a show hosted by Stan Freeberg that played old time radio shows like, The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Lum and Abner and my favorite, The Damon Runyon Theater. And even now that radio is pretty lame, especially here in Macon, I still know where to find some good stuff. When I hit Atlanta I always turn to 88.5 Georgia State University's radio station. I listen to so many different shows on NPR and public radio. I use the internet to tune into the BBC. This is going to be a fun category for me so let's get started.

We know the #1s. I mean come on. You've got to be living a pretty messed up life if you have not heard of Rush Limbaugh, Howard Stern, or Ryan Seacrest. Now I will give you A Prairie Home Companion. Maybe you haven't heard of that one. So I am going to tell you a little bit about it. A Prairie Home Companion is everything that I mentioned above that I loved about radio and a lot of things I never experienced from that era of listening. It was created and is hosted by Garrison Keillor and it is like he tried to roll all the best parts of radio into one show. There is live musical performances, comedy skits, super star special guests, advertisement jingles built into the show, a great monologue, and my favorite part of the show, the reading of listener letters. All of that shit is packed into one show! Can you dig it? CAN YOU DIG IT?!
Well with that being said, I expect all of the of #1s to move on with no problem. But let's talk about the #8s because they are all so fantastic! The Lone Ranger and The Jack Benny Show were two long running and high rated radio shows from the golden age of radio. Remember, radio was king. There was either no TV or TV was still so new that most people didn't have one yet. America got its entertainment from the radio. The Lone Ranger was action and drama and Jack Benny was comedy at its finest. My favorite part of the Lone Ranger was Tonto. I was always hoping he would be the hero for once. My favorite part of Jack Benny was Rochester, Benny's chauffeur. Rochester was quick witted with the snaps and funny as can be. The Dr. Demento Show is great!! I wish it came on here I'd be listening to it every week. It's funny on the edge of insanity. I mean come on, Dr. Demento is the guy who made this song. And he just got voted into the Radio Hall of Fame. Kim Komando is a nerdy boy's dream come true. The Kim Komando Show is great computer and techincal advice. It gets no better! You got a blue screen of death. Call Kim Komando. Your kids download a virus? No problem. Call Kim Komando. She's awesome!!

American Top 40 w/ Casey Kasem vs I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue - There are a lot of the last great voices of radio in this tournament. Casey Kasem is one of them. If you listened to radio within the last 20 years you can identify Casey Kasem right away. He had a voice that sounded like he must be the nicest guy in the world. I was introduced to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue by the wonderful Kelly Sugar. The show had been off the air for some time because its original host passed away but it has returned with rotating hosts. One of my favorite parts of the show is the "New Definitions" where you will hear stuff like "Lymph" means to walk with a lisp or "Toronto" which means An Expression used by the Lone Ranger when drunkenly addressing his colleague. Good stuff. But my vote goes to Casey Kasem.

Bubba The Love Sponge vs Worldwide w/ Gilles Peterson - Bubba the Love Sponge apparently loves this bar in Warner Robins Georgia called Bahama Bob's. Look at that name. Bahama Bob's. Sounds tropical doesn't it? Well, it's in a double wide trailer in the very middle of Georgia. Not at all near a beach. That's what makes it great. Bubba the Love Sponge sang karaoke there once and it stuck with him forever. If he ever finds himself in Georgia again I am sure he will be at Bahama Bob's. I LOVE Gilles Peterson. Gilles Peterson is my favorite DJ. It hurts my heart to have had to rank him as only a #7. His Worldwide radio show is broadcast out of London on BBC's Radio 1 and is one of my favorite radio shows. Ever wonder how I know all the stuff I know about music? Gilles. Through Gilles Peterson I learn all about what is happening in the world of music outside of Georgia. If it is good, he'll play it. Jazz, House, Hip-Hop, you name it. If its got a groove it can catch some air time from Peterson.

The John Tesh Show vs The Ed Schultz Show - Now I know a lot of people may think John Tesh is corny but I still like him. He has a good voice and even though he uses it to give out a bunch of useless facts, I find it entertaining (and also very funny). I remember John Tesh from the television show Entertainment Tonight. Who knew that when I was watching him then that he had a secret desire to be a radio DJ? Ed Schultz. A radio talk show for Democrats. Republicans talk big that's what makes them entertaining. Right or wrong they talk like they know what they are talking about. Makes for good entertainment. Democrats are nice. They want to know the other person's opinion. They might change their mind. Or in other words, they act normal. Not so good for entertainment. So how does Ed Schultz pull off his radio show? Well he does a fine job of making people listen. However, my vote goes to John Tesh.

Dr. Laura vs Coast To Coast AM - Let me go on and say I don't like Dr. Laura. If I got trapped in an elevator with that woman I'd probably kill myself cuz I can imagine that even if I killed her, she wouldn't stop talking. If there are Dr. Laura staff or fans or even Dr. Laura herself reading this, I'm sorry. I have a lot of respect for the fact that she has a radio show and I do not, but I swear she is the Judge Judy of radio and I can do without her. Now some people may find her advice useful but I probably stay away from those people too. Now moving on to Coast To Coast AM. It's about UFOs, Big Foots, Ghosts and stuff!! How can you top that? My vote goes to Coast To Coast.

Mike & Mike In The Morning vs Science Friday - This match hurts my heart. Here are two of my favorite radio shows up against each other in the first round! One of the greatest days of my life is when Mike & Mike read one of my emails on the air. I was so happy. That shit was better than winning the lottery. And all I did was explain to them why Mike Tyson got mad and beat up some random guy on the street when he called the girl Mike was with a chicken head. Yeah, if you know me, you know I love sports and I can hold a pretty good sports conversation but my sports radio claim to fame is explaining slang to Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg. Science Friday is this BOMB! Talk about bringing out the nerd in me. When I was a kid I wanted to be a scientist. I wanted to build robots. I nearly burned my house down once with a chemistry set. I used sunlight to cook an egg. I started programming computers at the age of 10. If I had had a radio show that talked about science for a couple of hours once a week, I'd be working for NASA right now I know. I listen to Ira Flatow every week. It's nerdy stuff but it's not overwhelming. As a host Ira Flatow is humorous and engaging. He does his best to make sure everyone from the layman to the specialist stays interested in the topics. If you've never given it a listen, please give it a try.

This American Life vs The Steve Harvey Morning Show - Ira Glass is who every ironic wanna be hipster dreams to be. They may not even know who he is, but the wish they were him. Look at this guy! The glasses. The way he dresses. And oh yes, the voice. He has the nerdy hipster voice. However while hipsters walk around trying to be ironic and usually failing miserably Ira Glass lays it on you like POW with This American Life. This is a radio show that will fuck around have have you stuck in the car for abut 15 minutes trying to heard the end of the show. NPR calls those moments driveway moments. Stories so good you sit in the driveway in the car instead of going in the house. Well it could be worse you could be in the parking lot at Walmart with people walking by thinking you are crazy cuz This American life will sometimes have you laughing out loud, boo-hoo crying, cussing at invisible bad guys, or cheering the under dog on. Honestly you get that caught up in these stories. They are the stories of the hard fought battles for good by the average guy. The good hearted woman. The kids with dreams. Great work guys. You know what Amanda told me last night? She said she didn't think Steve Harvey was funny. I lost a little bit of respect for her. I think Steve Harvey is hilarious. Old school music and jokes. That's my kind of morning show. But my vote goes to This American Life. Sorry Steve.

Sean Hannity vs The Derek and Romaine Show - Let's really look at this match up. A Rush Limbaugh knock off vs a Gay talk show. You've got to be kidding me! The gay talk show is going to be far more entertaining! I probably made myself part of the dreaded liberal media by saying that but I mean come on. Republican radio shows are played out. To be honest all political radio shows are played out. Hell at least Derek and Romaine make me laugh. All political talk shows do are make me mad. Who wants to walk around mad all the time? I'm already a Cancer so I'm grumpy by nature! The least you can do if I tune in to your radio show is lighten the mood for me! Geez.

Delilah vs Jim Rome - Delilah might be the last pillow talk show. That saddens me because if the DJ isn't setting the late night mood, how will the babies get made? If pillow talk ends with Delilah the human race may come to an end!! This is a travesty! I don't always agree with Jim Rome on sports but I do most of the time. What gets me is how he can be so serious! Geez man, lighten up. Give me some humor!

Imus In The Morning vs Car Talk - Let me see. A grumpy old guy who says "nappy headed hoes" on the air or two guys giving funny car advice? Let's see. I love cars. I hate assholes. I like to laugh. I hate being angry. The funny thing about this Don Imus is that if you were at all funny I'd be all about hearing some grumpy old guy saying "nappy headed hoes" but you really just come across as the bigot sitting on his front porch with a shot gun threatening everyone who walks by. But Click and Clack the Tapper Brothers come off as people I want to hang out with! Hell yeah I'll hand you that ratchet! Tell me again about the time you and your brother went to the Redwood forest! The best part of Car Talk is when they get the caller to make the noise the car is making. I LOVE IT!! Guess who gets my vote.

Frank DeCaro vs Air America - Ok. Go back up to Sean Hannity vs Derek and Romaine and re-read it. FUCK POLITICAL TALK RADIO!! Give me the funny gay guy every time! Frank DeCaro is hilarious. I'd hang out with him any time. Know why? All the hot female movie stars love him! You damn right, I'd be introducing myself like, "Hi I'm Roger Riddle. I'm a good friend of Frank DeCaro."

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me vs The Rest Of The Story - Ok. This match up hurts my heart. One of these shows won't make it to the second round. Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is my favorite radio show right now. The Rest Of The Story was one of the greatest stories on the radio! PAUL HARVEY VS CARL KASSEL!! How did I do this? I could have cheated and not put them against each other but no...I go by my rules! This is ridiculous! I LOVE Roy Blount Jr. He makes me laugh so hard. Peter Sagal is the man!! Paula Poundstone is so funny!! But...PAUL HARVEY!! Can't you just hear him saying, "and now you know...the Rest of the story"? I swear when I was making the list of tournaments that we would do I put this category on the list so I could put Wait Wait in the tournament. Now here I am fretting over who will win in the first round. Oh Paul Harvey I will always love you but my vote goes to Wait Wait.

This is an exciting match-up. Taco Bell vs Subway. Who will walk away the Coffee Cake Extravaganza Fast Food Joint champion.
Is it Taco Bell, with its late night goodness? It's cheap menu? That talking Chihuahua (R.I.P.)?
Or is it Subway, with its healthy choices? It's $5 foot longs? Its construction workers who can't seem too get the song together?
Well, in any case like Angel "This Girl" Collins said, it is going to be interesting to see who has the best social networking. Who can get the most of their people out to vote? We'll soon find out. Best of luck to both!

Pizza Hut vs Subway - I've been pulling for Pizza Hut since this tournament started but this is where I get off the bandwagon. I'm pulling for Subway. I have to give it up for their veggie patty subs. Those things are soooooo good. Go Subway!

Taco Bell vs Waffle House - Wow. Waffle House is a #8. How did you make it this far into the tournament? It's the hash browns isn't it? I know I eat my fair share of them. I saw a great Arby's vs Waffle House discussion on Facebook yesterday. There was a lot of talk about chili. Chili on hash browns must be the bomb-diggy cuz there were at least one person that was loosing her mind over putting chili on stuff. Taco Bell. What more can I say? That's just cheap and good eating. The Bean Burrito, the 7 Layer Burrito, The Mexican Pizza. The list goes on and on. Viva Taco Bell!

Wow! Heck of a day yesterday. The fans turned out for the vote and it showed. Thanks to Carl's Jr., Hardee's, Subway, KFC , Chick-fil-A, Arby's and Taco Bell for spreading the word through Twitter and Facebook. And thanks to Five Guys for sharing the kind words. Just so you all know, I will be doing a Special Edition: Taco Bell Menu Coffee Cake tournament with the help of the Taco Bell Truck and I hope have that up and ready for voting on Monday. Pizza Hut vs Checkers - Pizza vs quick drive through. How can you call this one? I'm gonna go with Pizza Hut.

KFC vs Subway - No fair!! Subway not only has Jared, now they have Michael Phelps! How can KFC compete with that? I know...Grilled Chicken. Boo-yah! How can you call it?

Arby's vs Waffle House - You ever had a blueberry waffle from Waffle House? Those things are so good I eat them with no syrup. Arby's, I'm sorry I've neglected you over the years. I promise that I will come visit you soon and reacquaint myself with your menu.

Taco Bell vs Popeye's - I've been craving a 7 Layer Burrito lately. When I finally get my hands on one I am gonna light that bad boy up! It's not gonna last 60 seconds. Then I will pull out the 2nd one I ordered and eat it slow and enjoy it. Popeye's, I love you but Taco Bell get's the vote.

Fast Food Joints - Round 2 (The Sweet Sixteen)

A very exciting Round 1 brought us some serious upsets. The two biggest in the fast food game are gone after Round 1. McDonald's and Burger King go down in the first round! KFC and Taco Bell move on because they put Twitter to use for them but KFC's first round match was close. Let's see if they can rally their followers for a better showing in the 2nd round.

Let's look at the match ups in Round 2.

Checkers vs Whataburger - I'm going with Checkers on this one only because I have not had Whataburger since 1994. And Checkers' french fries are where it's at.

Pizza Hut vs Sonic - My favorite pizza from Pizza Hut is just a plain old cheese pizza. That jawn is so yum. Wooo! I could go for one right now. I think I know what I will be doing on my day off. Cheese pizza, bottle of wine and kung-fu movies. Sonic has this peanut butter milkshake that I love. A friend of mine named Shane brought me one once and I have been hooked ever since. And you know those Sonic commercials with the two guy's in the car cracking really corny jokes? I always thought I hated them until I saw the commercials that didn't have the two guys. The new commercials had other people in them and I hated those more. Then I realized I had grown to even like the first two guys and found them funny. Right on Sonic. But my vote is going to Pizza Hut.

KFC vs White Castle - KFC is up on its game. They are using Twitter to get to their people. I like that. That is a company that is evolving with the times. Before you know it, KFC will have healthier choices... What? They are selling grilled chicken now? See what I mean? Go KFC! White Castle, you're so good that you had a couple of pot heads do a movie about you. Why aren't you representing the goodness in the south? My vote has to go with KFC.

Subway vs Chick-fil-A - There is a Subway not to far from my house that stays open 24 hours because it is by the hospital. Now to a lot of you, you may be thinking, "big deal". But when you live in a town that pretty much closes at 10pm, you get excited when you find out anything stays open 24 hours. Chick-fil-A has a pickle on their chicken sandwich. What is the best part of the sandwich. I'm not kidding. There is something about that pickle that absolutely makes that sandwich. My vote goes to Chick-fil-A.

Jack In The Box vs Waffle House - Not a lot I can say about Jack In The Box other than they have a crazy diverse menu. It's not just burger's and fries and a chicken or fish sandwich thrown in the mix for good measure. No. They have tacos, egg rolls, Philly steak sandwiches... grilled cheese.... *gives all the Home Cooked Dishes voters a "Roger Riddle" look*. That's pretty impressive for a fast food spot. Plus again with the commercials. My vote goes to Jack In The Box.

Arby's vs Hardee's - I remember Arby's having great fries when I still ate there. I hope their fries are still that good now. There are two ways to get me to go just about anything you want. French fries and cookies. You offer me either of those and I am as good as your lackey. Maybe this is a chance for me to rekindle my old flame with Arby's. I wonder if they have a chicken sandwich I would like. We shall soon find out Arby's. Hardee's used to have this mushroom and swiss burger that was amazing. I remember talking to Kevin about it one day and we broke out to get one. I remember us just gobbling the thing down like there was crack in it or something. For nostalgia my vote goes to Hardee's.

Taco Bell vs Moe's - Taco Bell vs Moe's. Two southwest styled chains. This could be a good one. Taco Bell's Mexican pizza cause me to go insane once. I couldn't stop eating them. Then I gave up beef and I was hurt that I would never eat another one. Then one day I was standing in line and a guy in front of me ordered one with no beef!! I swear what happened to me was like that scene in The Blues Brothers where the light was shining down on Jim Belushi in the church. Moe's oh you and your tasty salsa. Yum yum yum. I didn't even realize that I cared that much about salsa until you gave me all those chips with my burrito. But alas, my vote goes to Taco Bell.

Popeye's vs Five Guys - I really like Popeye's Chicken. Once after a Bragg Jam, Chris Horne, Stick and I went to a Popeye's and that was just about the best meal I ever ate. We were still exhausted from the night before and as I remember it we got the chicken, came back home, ate and all of us fell asleep again. It was a wonderful moment in gluttony. Five Guys knows how to treat fry lovers. Their fries are really good and they know the importance of bag fries!! Right on Five Guys...but I don't eat burgers. )-: Popeye's gets the vote.

Fast Food Joints - Round 1

Whoa hey hey hey. Welcome to another week of Coffee Cake. This week we will be discussing the finer tastings of Fast Food Joints. Yeah, when you're being bad on that diet, whadda'you do? Mikey D's? KFC? When you are trying to get from one business meeting to the next where do you go? Jack In The Box? Taco Bell? When it's late night and you want something quick, where do you go? In-N-Out? Sonic? We are going to figure out the best of the best this week.

Let's talk about the matches.

McDonald's vs Whataburger - A couple of weeks ago I was going somewhere with Aaron and Amanda and Amanda pointed out to me that I have no game with the ladies. She said my line, "Baby, your daddy must have been a cheeseburger cuz I could nom on you all night long," would be ineffective. Aaron completely didn't understand the line. He said, "What is a 'nom'?" I said, "That's the sound you make when you're eating a sandwich." He then told me that he didn't make that sound and it would have made more sense to him if I had said, "Your daddy must have been a cheeseburger cuz I could robble robble on you all night."
I fell out. Amanda didn't get it. It made both Aaron and me feel old. My point in all of this is that McDonalds reminds me of being a kid. I rarely eat there any more but it's comforting to know that it's around. My only experience with Whataburger is from my freshmen year of college. I was really hungry and I went in one with a group of friends. I ordered a chicken sandwich. The place looked like a barn with really long pic-nic tables in it. It was interesting. But my vote goes to McDonald's.

KFC vs Krystal's - I eat at Krystal's a lot. More than I'd like to admit. It's right around the corner from my house. I always order the Krystal Chiks. I recently found out that their chili is meatless so I can also eat that (I don't eat beef or pork). I wish there was a KFC downtown. I'd eat there more. My Twitter picture is a picture of me on a KFC bucket. KFC gets the vote.

Burger King vs Waffle House - I'm not gonna lie. The new Burger King commercials are really creepy to me. But I really like their fish sammich and the original chicken sammich. And they have a really good breakfast. Now Waffle House is just like Krystal's for me. I eat there all the time. It's right around the corner from my house and it's open 24 hours. I tend to find myself hungry in the middle of the night a lot. But I'm giving a vote to Burger King. Just keep that creepy King character away from me.

Taco Bell vs A Hot Dog Cart - While I was in Savannah I saw an old Taco Bell sign. I was mad excited. I love old signs. Like, give me a Big Boy on the side of the road. Or one of the old Holiday Inn signs with the lights. So when I saw that damn Taco Bell sign my insides did a little happy nostalgic flip. I really like their 7 layer burrito. You know Taco Bell is very vegetarian friendly? You can order most of the stuff minus the beef and replace it with beans. It's great. We don't have a lot of carts on the streets here in Macon like they do in big cities. People who live in pedestrian heavy cities know that the fastest food you can get is from a cart and a lot of it is really good. Folks refer to it as street meat. It may be good and quick but I gotta go with Taco Bell.

Pizza Hut vs A&W - When I was a kid pizza at my house meant Little Caesar's. We rarely ate pizza from anywhere else. I always wanted Pizza Hut. I thought it was the best pizza in the world. Now it may have been because I had so rarely had it but you know...kid logic. I CRAVED Pizza Hut and never had it. Many year's later I move to Macon and Pizza Hut is my go to for delivery. I am making up for all those years of never having it. Now A&W used to be my SHIT when I was in high school! Me and my friend Joe Martin would go to A&W and eat burgers and drink root beer. The root beer would come in a cold frosty mug. I was delicious. At the time I didn't even like root beer but I drank it and loved it at A&W. Looking back I think the reason we went to that place so much was because this girl named Alia worked there. And I am sure those visits to A&W are the reason why I am addicted to Root Beer and Cream Soda now. Not too long ago Amanda got on to me for singing "She thinks my root beer's sexy." while standing in line in a Chick-fil-A. She told me I was being weird. My vote goes to Pizza Hut.

Subway vs Hungry Howie's - I had Subway yesterday while I sat in the park and drank a bottle of wine and listened to Jason Isbell (formerly of The Drive By Truckers) play a nice little acoustic set. It was just a veggie sub but boy did it hit the spot. Now. Hungry Howie's. If I craved Pizza Hut, let me tell you, I never knew what I was missing until the day I had Hungry Howie's pizza. I ended up eating it cuz I was really hungry one day and couldn't leave the house for some reason. They were the only pizza place that delivered in my area. The pizza was fantastic. They had these buttery flavored crusts. Oh my god. I've had Hungry Howie's maybe 3 times in my life but I can still taste that pizza. My vote goes to Hungry Howie's.

Arby's vs Cheeburger Cheeburger - Since I don't eat beef I can't remember the last time I ate at Arby's. It's been years but I do know it was good. I seem to remember something about Arby's sauce. I've never been to Cheeburger Cheeburger but I love that fuckin' name! How simple is that? Imagine this conversation.
"I wonder what that place sells."
"I bet they sell cheeseburgers. And my guess is the owner has a speech impediment."
See how that works? That's effective marketing. My vote goes to Cheeburger Cheeburger.

Popeye's vs Hot Dog On A Stick - My friend DJ Tagg in Arizona loves Popeye's. He could be a one man promoter for the company. I have to admit, the chicken, biscuits, and red beans and rice are mighty tasty. Hot Dog On A Stick is just so cute. Look at their cute little website. Look at that cute little logo. The idea of making a whole company out of a hot dog on a stick is just cute. But even with all that cuteness, I've got to go with Popeye's.

Checkers vs Del Taco - In Michigan Checkers were called Rally's. They have the best fries!! Man I'll mess around and damn near bite a finger off eating their fries. When I lived in Tallahassee I swear the only thing that sold food after 9pm was a Rally's way on the opposite side of campus. Now, I love their double fish sandwich. One night I stopped at Checkers on the way to a DJ gig. I ate my fries but stuck the sandwich in my cord bag so I could eat it after I got set up. Well I forgot about it. A month went by before my next gig. That fish sandwich was still in there. It was the most horrible smell my nose has ever had to experience. It smell like ammonia and hell. I was pissed cuz my bag was funky and I didn't get to eat my sandwich. I've never been to a Del Taco. Never even seen one. But people in Macon love Del Taco. There aren't any here anymore but I swear everyone wishes they'd come back. Since I missed the glory days of Del Taco in Macon, my vote goes to Checkers.

White Castle vs Little Caesar's - This match hurts my soul. Both of these bring back fond childhood memories. My dad used to eat the hell out of some White Castles. Now I live in Macon and there are no White Castles here. Hell we just got Little Caesar's in the last year. As you've already heard me say, Little Caesar's is what pizza tastes like to me. I love it. LC gets my vote.

Jack In The Box vs Captain D's - When I first got to Georgia I think I ate at Captain D's about 3 times a week. It was insane. I loved it! Fried fish!! The food was good but honestly I kept going back because there was this smoking hot girl working there. I've never been to a Jack In The Box but I LOVE the commercials. There is something about that mascot that just cracks me up. It's creepy and yet funny at the same time. Just like a toy Jack in the box. Jack In The Box gets my vote.

Long John Silver's vs Moe's - I've only eaten at Long John Silver's a couple of times. It was good, I just never seem to end up at one. I first had Moe's in Atlanta. My friend Kevin took me to one. I ordered a burrito called The Homewrecker. We come back home and I sit down and start playing video games. I had the worst gas. There just seemed to be no end to it. Kevin is walking around the kitchen like a mad man. He's looking for something. Finally he comes and sits down next to me and starts playing the game too. I fart again.
